I gave Madeleine Benadryl for her first plane ride last month and it did nothing to calm her down  |
my vet recommends Draymamine (sp?) for motion sickness and it is supposed to make drowsy i never used it but thats what he uses for his babies! |
Is there a wieght chart for Benedryl for dogs that anyone knows of?? What kind of Benedryl is used..childrens or adults?? Dawn |
Yep. I've used it to calm my yorkie, or to help with vaccine reactions. I don't do it often though. |
My vet said 2mls for my 5lb baby of childrens benedryl! sorry Im so late responding to that! |
my vet says to give Bianca a 1/2 tablet when shes itchy. It calms her right down too!!! |
I know I'm about 3 years late for this discussion, but I'm having travel problems with my Bella. My vet suggested 2 days ago to give her half a benadryl tablet before traveling (which I did) but it did NOT work one bit. Bella was still scared, shaking, pacing, flying around the car. Any suggestions? I'm wanting to get it figured out now before we make the long trip to Florida in January for the big move. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!!! |
i'm traveling with my boyfriend from Chicago to New Jersey.. Bailey is 2.5 lbs and is about 17 weeks.. I'm sure we have tablets but I wonder if he's too young for that.. I just want to be able to calm him.. |
Benedryl gives mine diareaha so I would watch that. |
I give Charlie a benedryl at bedtime when his allergies is acting up and he is scratching. It usually does the trick and he goes to sleep. |
Not all dogs will be calmed by benadryl- some have something called a paradoxical reaction that will end up making them hyper. I recommend that if it's something you are interested in doing for traveling, that you do a test run first so you don't have any unpleasant surprises during your trip. Always consult with your vet as to the recommended dose for your dog. |

Classical music always does the trick for my dogs, too. |
I heard the same thing about not medicating for a plane ride. |
