Did you get any of those Big Clear Bandages I was telling you about to put on your markings?? And as always you know that my prayers still continue. |
Those idiotic markings are all wearing off anyway. The ones they covered are ok. I am already tired lately...not sure what that is about. grrrr |
I'm sorry I didn't see this thread until now. I went through the breast cancer diagnosis last March and a lumpectomy in April. Just like you I only needed radiation and 5 years of medication. My oncology radiologist recommended I start using pure aloe vera on the radiated area right from the start. I think it helped keep the damage to my skin at a minimum. I did have redness that was itchy at times and painful at others but it was tolerable. Slight peeling but no blisters. When it started getting worse they had me switch to another ointment, sorry can't think of the name right now but it helped. The treatments don't take long but when you're laying there it seems like forever. I prayed during every one of them and it kept me calm. I'll pray for you as you go through this journey and if you have any questions for me or just want to share war stories please PM me. Take care. |

Yeah, I wondered about that...I know when I have had to have MRIs the only thing that kept me together was praying. Lying still in an uncomfortable spot can make it seem so much longer. Wonder why they don't give headphones with musick. Glad that it went well for you....thank you so much for sharing! :) |
Keep your positive attitude and I know you will do great! I have fibromyalgia and they warned me that I may suffer with more fatigue than usual but I didn't. I know six weeks sounds like a long time but it went pretty fast for me and I hope it's the same for you. I cried during my last treatment. Not because of sadness but because I was so happy it was over and I could move on with my life. A year later and you can't tell I had anything wrong except for a slight indentation. Use the aloe vera right after every treatment. Just be very gentle as you go further into treatment, you don't want to open up any blisters that might form. You can do it! |
I had a friend who had every day treatment for 6 mos. They told her that was safest. She was working full-time and once in that 6 mos., I think she took a half-day off and missed 2 days work during that time. I would not advise that. Take off the time that you need and don't try to be like my friend. If your body is tired - please rest it. |

Thanks...I know I can, but I sure as heck don't want to. I have been fine with everything until the past couple of weeks and I guess because I have more down time (thankfully no sick pups now), I have more time to dwell. I imagined what might happen if I did not do it, but of course I only let that go through my head and back out. I don't have a death wish, so I will comply. |

Linda just seeing this! I truly hope that all goes well for you. Sometimes hobbies old or new, that are not too energy intensive are good to either return to or pick up. |
Linda, Once last thing and I'll leave you alone. Hahah! If you don't already have the book Jesus Calling by Sarah Young I really suggest that you get it. It's a daily devotional. After my diagnosis a friend from church would copy a page every day and e-mail it to me. It calmed me down and turned my fear into faith that God would get me through whatever was ahead of me, and He did. Right before I started my radiation treatments, my sister-in-law showed up one day with the actual book. Coincidence? I think not. LOL! What's great about this book is you can keep reading it day after day, year after year. It's always relevant to what is going on in your life. |

Linda, just know I understand being scattered in the brain and the fear that come with it. You're an amazingly strong woman and I wish you well and will continue to included in my prayers. :) |
Sending best wishes, prayers and hugs. |
I forgot to say AMAZING woman when I said that I was praying for the positive, crazy one. You are amazing. :) I agree with not dwelling on the negatives, but I'm glad you are talking about what you are going through so that you receive support and good tips on how to take care of yourself. Definitely comply with treatment -- you don't want a big "Non-Compliant Patient" stamped on your chart like I had once. :D Praying for you. |
