Need Prayers and Healing Thoughts... DD (Amanda) in Hospital since Friday, for Surgery tomorrow. Minor surgery, but anytime going under anesthesia there are always risks involved. If all goes well, she'll be coming home Monday night... Prayers for her greatly appreciated. |
Prayers for you and Amanda. Hope she has a speedy recovery! |
Kathy, you and your precious Amanda are in my thoughts and prayers as well as the medical team that will be taking care of her. |
Sending good thoughts and prayers for you and your daughter Amanda. |
Hoping and praying Amanda's procedure goes faultlessly as the huge, overwhelming majority do and she is home and better in her own bed very soon and that Momma can get through it, too. :) |
Sending prayers for Amanda. |
Sending up prayers for Amanda and for Mom too, and for a speedy recovery. |
Yay! All is well... went good ... 20 minutes in and out! Gotta be the fastest surgery on the records! She even beat me back to her room, lol. We're here now, waiting on Daddy to come... hopefully transport can be arranged tonight if not she'll have to wait till tomorrow. No biggy. Amanda has CP... she thinks hospitals are special places that she goes for extra special spa treatment... she loves that the nurses rotate... the more the merrier! She's watching cooking shows... Paula Deen is on now and she loves her! Ppl think I'm torturing her bc she's on a feeding tube... but she loves to watch the cooking shows... IDK! Oh and thanks so much for all the prayers and well wishes, they mean so much.... |
Fabulous and wonderful news! Pamper her silly! I'm so happy. :) |

Praying for Amanda, God will be overseeing and guiding the Physicians, the anesthesiologist and all those caring for her. Kathy, I am praying for your needs too. Hugs, Patti and Jack |
Kathy, I am just now seeing this. I'm so happy that your daughter's surgery went so well. God is good and sees to all of our needs. I know you can't wait to get her home. |
Kathy, I'm just this now too. I am so happy to hear that Amanda's surgery was speedy and went smoothly....and that she enjoyed her hospital stay. How funny that she likes the cooking shows. I suppose I do too, although I never cook and rarely eat anything but boring food. :) |
I am just now seeing this. So glad that surgery is over and that Amanda did fine. prayers for her healing. |
I am so glad Amanda's surgery went well. |
Great news! Glad it went well. Prayers for a speedy recovery! |
Kathy, I'm just now reading other threads and saw this. I'm so very sorry. I guess I've been so self absorbed lately. How is Amanda? How has she been feeling? Is she recuperated? How old is she? I'm sure it must be very hard having a child with cerebral palsy. She's so blessed to have an angel of a mom like you. |
Thamk you all for the prayers and well wishes... The hospital arranged for transport for Amanda Monday night... she finally arrived home at 10:30 PM. (I didn't think they brought patients home that late... The driver was worried we would be asleep!, lol) As she was not allowed to be fed for 5 days, she is back on a 24 hour slow feed schedule, so my apologies for not updating sooner... been trying to get a schedule in place. Sorry if this is a bit graphic... She has a mild burn on her tummy from where the gastric juices were leaking around and out of her feeding tube, but that is healing nicely. The Doctor was able to replace the tube in the original spot, so that was great... no additional cutting was necessary. Amanda was very happy to be home and in her own bed, and extra happy to be getting nutrition once again. Once she adjusts to the feeding liquid, her schedule will be adjusted to daylight feedings only (Yay!) and life will resume on a more normal level, lol. My poor pups... didn't appreciate Mom being at the hospital everyday... but they adjusted alot better and quicker than I thought they would. Sapphire carried on and gave me heck whenever I came in the house, Bless her heart... she's such a Momma's girl! They are very happy that Amanda and Mommie are home! Peek A Boo has to follow me into Amanda's room whenever I go in there... he waits patiently under her bed till I'm done with my tasks. Tink monitors the other dogs and alerts me by barking her head off if anyone is in need of my assistance. What a crew! I am so blessed!:D |

Amanda is 28 years old. She was born with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, mild retardation, and developed a seizure disorder when she was 7 years old. She has Kyphosis and Lordosis of the spine and is wheelchair bound. She can't talk, but does communicate fairly reliably when asked a series of yes or no questions. She attends a Medical Daycare in Whitemarsh for about 6 hours a day, 5 days a week (ideally). She really enjoys going there. I know she can't wait to get back to her normal schedule! |
So glad Amanda is home. You are all in my prayers. |
Wow, so Amanda has the most severe form of CP? What a long road you have had, my friend! I am glad that she is getting her tummy full again, and that drs. were able to replace the tube without any additional incisions. I pray her burns continue to heal nicely, and that she can get back to her friends and her routine. I am not very educated in CP, but I know that the disorder often means it's hard to control the seizures. Judy (Yorkiemom1) was right, "the battles that are waged around us that we are never aware of". Kathy, I had no idea. I know that you are medically very knowledgeable, but now I know why. You face challenges very day with quiet dignity and steadfast resolve, yet are always here to help, uplift and encourage others, all the while suffering yourself with medical issues this last year. You've just become my biggest hero, and also my friend. I look up to you, and I am in awe. |
I just saw this Kathy. I'm so glad the surgery went well and Amanda is back home. Bless her heart, keeping you both in my prayers. |
