Well the surgeon didn't bother to show up yet. The nurse said it would probably be this afternoon (Of course so they can charge me another day). I am not a happy camper today. So praying I don't light into someone again. But I feel it coming on. No sleep at all and being stuck here will do it to you. This is day 5 and I am having to sleep in a recliner. I let them know today that they will be bringing me in a cot if I am forced to stay again. I will not sleep in the recliner another day. They are killing my back. :(:( The good news is Alex snores each night. He doesn't even realize they are in here ever 2 hours and don't know how to quietly shut the door. :mad:

Basically, what I know is the surgeon who checked us in on Saturday (the one who failed to tell my surgeon we were even here) has cost us three wasted days. Had he done the surgery over the weekend or even had the culture done, I would probably be home by now. However, since the jerk dropped the ball, the culture wasn't done until yesterday. Which means I don't know if we will get out today or not.

I have placed a call to the surgeon asking about home health care. The ONLY thing they are doing is giving IV antibiotics every 8 hours and they will need to change the wound dressing. I just think home health could do this without us having to stay in the hospital. I am even wiling to drive to the wound care clinic every 8 hours. Maybe I am wrong?

Give me some words of wisdom YTers. I am on my verge today. :(:( And I am a hot head. It could get very ugly!

I am soooo sorry. But... if you don't make noise you will not get the care you need. Remember.. you hired the doctor!! I would call your insurance company and talk to a nurse. Most companies have case managers/nurse. Also, I would find the head nurse, and the socila worker, and who ever else you can speak to at the hospitable. I would find a way to "rate" the doctor.. there are some online "rate my doctor " sites and blog about him. I would express my displeasure with him and show him he will be held accountable.

I would NOT go back to that doctor/surgen for sure. Also, whats up with the nurses? Why did someone not question the delay??

Oh Rhonda, I am so sorry I've missed all this. Wow, you have every right to be upset. I don't know how to help, but I'm saying a prayer for you and your son. I agree with Lil Sis. Make noise to get something done. Hugs.

Rhonda, I am so sorry this week has been a terrible experience for you and Alex. You do have many legitimate complaints (especially depriving your son of food and water for more than half the day when the surgeon didn't even know he was admitted!).

Continue to speak up for Alex and yourself. I pray this is all over soon for both of you!

I just spoke to our case manager. She said that hospitals tend to keep you longer so they can get the insurance money. I have also talked to two different nurse supervisors and I just put a call in to the surgeons office. I am going to be known as the witch!

I have no choice but to go to the same surgeon. No one else wants to take the case. :( Once a surgeon operates they all tell you to go back to him. Once he releases Alex, then I can change. Until then, I am stuck! :mad:

As far as the nurses, they do not stand up to the doctors here. At all. Especially the surgeons. Seems they think they are "God Like". At least that is what I am hearing. The nurse supervisor did come and tell me that the Medical Director has been notified. But they have not contacted me. I am sure they don't even care.

The Pediatrician just came in. She is going to see what she can do. She is awesome. She said her hands are tied since the surgeons are involved. But she did tell the nurses to page him if he wasn't here by noon. Maybe we will know something then.

His stupid IV started leaking. :(:( They had to put a new one in. :( He is not happy. When they took it out he thought he was leaving. :(:(
