I'm so glad that Alex's knee is improving. Saying for prayers for continued improvement and no surgery. |
I am so sorry and praying that the antibiotics work and there will be no need for surgery. |
Alex is acting more himself right now. He is getting a little wound up!:eek: We are so sick of looking at these four walls!! I am glad to see him feeling better. He hates the IV in his arm but his knee is starting to look a little better. Hopeful that tomorrow brings good news. And really looking forward to DH coming up to relieve me!! Ha ha!! Thanks again everyone for the well wishes and prayers. |
Oh Rhonda, how did I miss this!! I'm so sorry to hear about Alex, and so happy that things seem to be getting better and he's getting back to his normal self. Sending lots of prayers and hugs! *Hugs* |

Thanks Taryn! At least he is getting the antibiotics he needs. It is a start and finally they are listening to me. We will know more today once the surgeon shows up! |
im keeping alex in my prayers hoping the surgeon brings news of no surgery needed. |
You know I am praying for you:) |
Prayers for you and your family. |
I'm just seeing this Rhonda. I'm very glad that Alex's knee is doing so much better. I'll be thinking about your family. |
Thanks everyone! Sadly, we are still waiting to see the surgeon. Poor Alex can't eat or drink until they come in. He hasn't had anything since midnight. :(:( I am not very happy right now. And he don't understand. :( |

I hope the doctor has come in and Alex can eat. I will keep him in my prayers. |
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear of this, I am sending prayers your way! |
Well, I had my meltdown today about 2:00. :( I ended up having two nurse supervisors in my room, the pediatrician on my phone, and the surgeon being paged. Then one of my friends was calling the doctor over wound care to see if he would see us or not. Needless to say, a lot has happened. Alex was told to not eat or drink after midnight. The surgeon said he would come by today to see if he needed to go into surgery. So he had not had anything to eat or drink. At 12:00 I am getting a little agitated that we had not seen the surgeon. At 1:30 I decide to go find the nurse. I asked her if she had heard anything and she said no. Well, I told her I was very unhappy. So she called in supervisor #1. Well, supervisor #1 got an earful from me because it had been 13 hours and my child had not eaten or had a drink. She leaves the room and says she will be back with some information. Well, 30 minutes go by and nothing. So I go find them. She is on the phone and tells me the surgeon is in surgery. Well, momma kicks in again and I let her have in. So, in comes supervisor #2. By this point I am crying because I am so mad. Which btw, is NOT a good thing. The second supervisor comes in and says well the surgeon can't do surgery because he needs to run this test and that test. Well, I have been there 3 days with my son. The test should have been ran already. So I nailed her. At this point, we have figured out surgery isn't happening and I am giving Alex food and drinks. My mom has come up now because I told her I was having a meltdown. I leave to go get Alex something to eat. While going to the cafeteria, I am talking to my DH. And the pediatrician calls me. Promising to find out what is going on. I go back to my son's room and the surgeon is there. Not the surgeon from the weekend. The surgeon who did the first knee surgery. Well, the surgeon from the weekend never contacted him to tell him Alex was in the hospital. The surgeon from the weekend also did not put him on the surgery schedule for today. I was UPSET.:mad: To make a long story short, the original surgeon is back on the case. He will do surgery to clean out the infected area tomorrow morning. DH is with Alex and told me to come home and get rest. So, I will be back there about 5:00 am before he goes to surgery. Praying and hoping this is the last and final thing that is needed for my sweet boy. He is ready to come home. If the surgery goes well, I should be home tomorrow or the next day with Alex. |
That's terrible to keep you and Alex waiting all day like that. Your nerves must be shot. Praying that all goes well tomorrow and you and Alex can go home to rest and heal. Sending good thoughts and hugs too. |
Wow praying for a better day tomorrow. Hope you get to bring him home very soon. Take a hot bath or long shower. And try to get some rest. I know you are very upset. Sending a big hug |
I am so sorry you, your husband and Alex are going through this:( Prayers for successful surgery and recovery. |
Thank you all so much. |
*Hugs* I'm so sorry Rhonda. I'm glad you had a melt down with the Supervisors. And when your stay at the hospital is done and you're home with Alex, I'd be on the phone with Patient Satisfaction and letting them have it as well. How your son was handled was unacceptable, and they need to know it. Prayers for a better day, and be sure to get Alex and Big Mac and Large Coke ;) |

Sorry, you had such a rough day. Glad you finally have answers and hope everything goes well tomorrow! Hope you get some rest, your body probably needs it more than you know. |
Rhonda, I am so sorry for you and Alex that you had to go through all of this nonsense. This is inexcusable making your son go without food and water when no one is communicating and nothing was going to happen. Sending prayers that all will go well tomorrow and that this will be the end of Alex's knee troubles. {{{hugs}}} to you. |
Rhonda, I am praying for you and your family that you remain strong, and that your son heals quickly and completely. |
My prayers are with you and Alex and your family. God Bless you. Hope he will be home soon. |
Rhonda keeping you and Alex in my prayer's.:getwellso:getwell: Have a nice day. |
Thinking of you & Alex today hoping that all is going to be good for you |
