Thanks everyone...Mom walked the entire loop around the hospital floor she is on this evening and that is quite a distance. She is doing wonderful.

Update...Mom gets to come home tomorrow!! Her ortho actually said she would be in the hospital for 3 days, but she is doing so well she gets to come home a day early:)

Michelle, I'm so happy to hear the news about your mother coming home early. I'm glad she came through the surgery and is doing great!

Michelle, I am so sorry I missed this. I am glad your mom is doing well. And excited for you that she is coming home. My mom went through this recently and it was the best thing she could have ever done. She gets around so much better now. Praying for your mom. Hugs

Michelle! PTL that your Mom is doing so well! Isn't it amazing that they have her up and walking so soon after the surgery. I'm so happy that she isn't having pain! That is also amazing! Hugs to you...I know you must have weight off your shoulders!

Just a quick update:( It was too good to be true:( Mom took a turn for the worse last night. The pain became unbearable. She was having no pain due to the block they did for the surgery. It wore off through the night and right now they are trying to get it under control, so it can be managed. Dad called me at work about 9:30 this morning to tell me and to tell me she was asking for me.
I left work, packed a bag and grabbed my laptop and a few things, so I am at the hospital with her now. Please say a prayer that the pain medication starts working and she can get some rest. I thought it was so odd that she was pain free yesterday, I have had surgery several times and nothing on the same scale as a knee replacement and I have always had a lot of pain the first few days.
Thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers.

Aw! Sorry she is hurting so bad, praying for her to heal quickly and these days will all be behind her soon....

I feel so bad she is in so much pain. I'll pray that it is managed quickly! Once she gets through this horrid pain, and recovered, she will be pain free and that's something to look forward to. I suppose she was in a lot of pain and that's what brought her to getting this surgery. Bless her heart and yours too!

Update....after having a Morphine drip last night and this morning the pain level came down, she is now on demerol and the pain level is now tolerable. The therapist just came in a little bit ago and walked her a little bit and she did pretty good. She said her pain level was a 6 on a scale of 1-10. Keep on praying...the prayers are working.

Prayers for a quick and complete healing for your Mom. Sending you a big hug Michelle, your being there is a great help to her, daughters are so very special :)

Hang in!

My Dad had a total knee and had lots of pain and the rehab was really rough but he toughed out and the outcome was awesome. Seems like it has to get worse before it gets better.

Mom is resting well. Right now she is asleep and hopefully will get a good nights sleep tonight. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I know she has lots of rehab to come and will still be in some pain, but I think the horrible pain she was experiencing last night is at least being managed.

Sorry for not updating yesterday. It has been a long weekend, but Mom is now at home and though it is going to be a long recovery, her pain is at least controlled now. I think being at home will really help. She was so worried the whole time about her little biewer girl Jazzy even though Dad was going home every night to take care of her.
Dad said the minute they got Mom into the house and in her hospital bed, Jazzy jumped up on her lap and stayed there all evening.

awww...how sweet Jazzy sounds...you know she missed her momma and of course momma missed her too. I glad she's feeling better and is on the road to recovery.

I stopped by to check on Mom on my way home from work. Her physical therapist and home health nurse came today. She was in some pain from the therapy, but overall is doing as well as could be expected 4 days after surgery.
Pray for Dad too as he is there 24-7 and myself and my 2 brothers and my sister all work, but we are trying to help out and give him a break every day, at least for an hour or so.

Just wanted to post and update on Mom. She has had a few really rough days since coming home from the hospital. Yesterday afternoon she was feeling much better. She has the best nurse in the world helping her heal..her and Dad's little Biewer Jazzy.:) In the first pic Jazzy is waiting on me to come in off the patio...second pic is her and Mom...and the last pic is Jazzy all snuggled up with Mom when I left for the day.
