Prayers are needed... 1 Attachment(s) My Dad and my Step Mom have a 14 year old toy poodle named Ginger. She turned 14 this past November. They have had her since she was 8 weeks old and she and my step mom have a very close relationship. I found out last night that Ginger has been vomiting and having diarrhea for a couple of days and they took her to the vet yesterday morning when blood showed up in her stool. I will post directly what my step mother had posted on her facebook rather than reword all of the details myself. Cathy's words... This is Ginger. She turned 14 years old in November. She is the boss of our home and she knows it. She is also our insulin diabetic baby. She has not felt very good the last few days. And it breaks my heart, because I know that she will leave me probably a lot sooner than I will ever be ready for her to. She holds my heart in her little paws and yes, she knows that too. Medical update on Ginger. She is in the vet hospital. She has Pancreatitis, Dehydration, possible Ketoacidosis, possible bacterial infection in the blood stream, plus other stuff. The vet is starting multiple different treatments but she has a lot of stuff against her- age, diabetes, .... If you get a chance, she could use prayers (her mama could use some too)...... When I talked to Cathy last night she said that the vet called around 6:30pm and let them know that she is perking up a little. Please pray for this little girl. She has a lot of life left in her I just know it. |
I am so sorry to hear about Ginger. Praying for a quick recovery for her (and sending hugs to your stepmom). |
I will keep Ginger in my prayers. |

I'm praying for Ginger and your family. |
Thank you everyone I really appreciate it. |
Just got this update: Ginger Update: We got to spend about 25-30 minutes with her this morning at the vets office. She looked so much better! They had an iv in her leg and the workers had to pull a iv stand behind her which looked kind of funny. She is responding really well to the antibiotics and the other meds. She acted really good also. The vet staff is still hopeful that she will bounce back from this. Hoping she will come home the first of the week! I want to thank everyone for the prayers and well wishes for Ginger (and her mama) Thank you everyone so much!!! |

Thank you for the update... so glad Ginger is doing better. Continued prayers. Hope she's home soon. |
Good to hear!! |
So glad that Ginger is feeling better. I know that her mommie's heart is thrilled. |
I am just now reading this, but I am SO happy that Ginger seems to be recovering well and that everyone is in good spirits regarding her healing progress. I think dogs sense the feelings in the people around them, and if the medical staff at the vet's is upbeat and they have high hopes for a full recovery...Ginger (and other animals under veterinary care) can sense that. I think it has a great deal to do with how quickly, and how fully animals recover. Call me crazy but I believe it. I will pray for Ginger to pull through with shining colors. Please keep us updated on her progress! |

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers. I have not gotten any more updates today yet. I know my stepmom would do anything in the world for Ginger but my dad has always been of the mindset that "it's just a dog" He loves their pets but not at the level that Cathy does. Cathy can't have children and those pups are her babies plain and simple. I have never understood the "it's just a dog" complex. To me any pet has always meant so much more. They are family and they deserve to be treated as such. No exceptions. |
