The other thing is that the mammary artery that they used for the LLD did not work. Thank goodness they have a machine that tells them how much blood flow, because when they finished everything and checked, there was only a trickle of blood flow through that artery. They had to put him back on bypass and take a leg vein and do another bypass. He said he now has two blood flows to that area of the heart, but the one from the mammary artery is just a trickle. He suggests that it would be best if he has an angioplasty sometime to get that particular one flowing better. The hole in his heart is referred to as ventricular septal defect and can cause the right side of the heart to miscommunicate with the left. He said he may need a coil put in there at a later date and that he would have done that today, but he didn't want to put him through anything more. After hearing all this, I was going to run home to let the dogs out and here he came off the elevator on his way to ICU! They were moving him so fast I just saw a glimpse, but just a little bit ago his nurse came out and Tyler and I were able to go in and see him. He isn't awake yet, but did open his eyes when I talked to him and acted as if he wanted to talk. His nurse said he most likely won't even remember that. They will come get me when he is awake and I'll be able to see him again. Thank you everyone for your friendship and your prayers. I am so thankful for all of you! |
