Peter Parker and his worried mom need prayers This is my first post here, I'm trying not too get to carried away reading too many posts b/c I think it makes me worried sick even more reading some of the stories and how others have lost their furbabies. My Peter Parker and I are facing a mass in his intestine. I'm not sure yet if its the only place that it is or if its other places too. Hoping that its only in one place and operable. He also either has the IBD or Lymphantasia. I wasn't really concerned as to which one it was as the treatments are pretty much the same. On his way in to give urine, the doc was using the ultrasound on him and found the mass in his intestine. Please pray for the best for us! We need it. I'm trying my best to think positive. I am hoping the worms were a blessing in disguise and helped us to catch this early. |
I'm praying for Peter Parker and you too. It's such a scary thing when they aren't well. Sending good thoughts and hugs to you both too!! |
Sending prayer. |
I'm sorry it's on such a sad note that you joined us, but I do welcome you to YT. I hope your baby comes out of this ok. Please keep us updated! |
I'm so sorry you and little Peter Parker (love the name!) are going through this right now. We're going to be believing Peter got to the vet to have these tests so he could be helped. So sorry you joined us under these circumstances, but we are glad to be here for you and little Peter. Please keep up posted. |
I'm so sorry to read about your Peter and his troubles. Did he have worms and you take him in for that and they want to get urine and do a sono? Is that what led to finding this mass? I wish the mass could be a cluster if worms or something easy like that - don't even know if that is possible. I will pray that this little fellow will have the least of whatever the differential diagnoses could be with this finding and pray that his treatment will be simple and unpainful. Please keep us updated. Try to not be too scared - maybe you did get this early since apparently having no sx. God bless! |
I will keep Peter Parker and his worried mom in my prayers. |
Keeping your little one in my prayers... |
When I went in and we found the whipworms, I didn't know what was going on. My FAT dog had lost weight and I knew we did nothing to cause that so I was concerned. Not knowing what we were looking for we ran the "senior" panel which was everything blood urine xray and poop The poop came back with the worms and the urine and blood work showed anemia and protein loss. we treated for the whipworms (8 doses of pancura) plus took the preventative. Our blood work numbers never turned around. So we've been on the radar ever since. After a bad weekend of not eating and feeling lethargic our apt got moved up to MOn and when he went to ultrasound him to find the urine sample he saw the mass in the intestine. Prior to that we were talking the treatment options for the lymphantasia (can't spell it) and IBD for the protein loss. THEN THAT D&^% thing showed up. SO, I am waiting for them to call me that the lady who does their ultrasounds will come in to do it. I hope by Friday, so we can see where exactly it is, if it is encapsulated well (which he thinks it is) and if there are any other organs involved. If she doesn't come do it by Friday I will just go over to the specialist and get it done there. This is not going to be cheap no matter what but I don't want a death sentance. If do nothing that is what I get. I'm not ready to say goodbye. he just did turn 11 four days ago. He's my third yorkie, his brother is my second. His namesake (Spiderman) was my first. |
I want it gone! |
He goes in to surgery tomorrow. The effected part of his intestine is going to be taken out and biopsied and also the other areas that could be effected. Hoping and praying for smooth sailing and good news. He's my little guy and I don't want to lose him. Not now not at 11. Not ever really but I know better. Please pray for him Kel |
We're going to be praying everything is encapsulated and is easily removed in the surgery!!! It's good you were on top of his health and were having him closely watched by your vet! |
Praying for Peter Parker and you!! |
I just saw this and I am so sorry to hear what Peter Parker and you are going through. I am sending prayers for a successful surgery and a complete removal of the mass, good results on the biopsy, peace of mind for his mom, and great quality and quantity of time left for Mr Parker. Best wishes and blessings on you all. |
I want all that, never thought i'd say it, but I'm glad he got worms. They prob made him lose weight faster and make it more noticable. Otherwise, how far would this thing have gone before he was noticably sick? By then it would of prob been to late. This way maybe we caught it in time. I just wish it would of been a month ago we were doing this when he still felt pretty good. |
I'm so sorry there is a mass. I hope his surgery is successful and you will have a healthy Peter Parker back home with you for a long time yet. We have a member here, SHODANUSMC, who may be able to offer you some advice on care. He had a dog, not a yorkie, that had cancer as well and is about the same age. Sending my thoughts and special yorkie prayers for yor little guy. |
Hurdle one has been jumped. Made it thru the surgery. The mass was able to be removed, along with some healthy intestine on either side. There were no other areas that were affected just the one section of his intenstines. He's home and resting although not sure how comfortably. He's pee'd and pooped and eaten so those are all good things. Now we need to heal, hold our own protein, and pass our biopsy. Hope that whatever it is, that removing it is considered curative. |
Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers, keep em up, they seem to be working. OH and he needs to gain weight too! |
I am keeping Peter Parker in my prayers. These little guys seem to heal quickly so hopefully he will feel better soon. |
...so sorry to hear about your baby, hopefully he's on the road to full recovery now, we'll be praying hard for you . |
Glad to hear hurdle #1 is through! We will keep praying for his biopsy and his full recovery from this. |
I'm sending good thoughts and prayers for Peter Parker. I hope everything else checks out well and he continues to eat well and gain weight.:) |
Happy to hear Peter is over hurdle one. Sending prayers for his continued improvement and hoping he puts some weight on. Best wishes. |
So far so good. He gained sumwhat under a pound since the surgery, from a Fri to a Wed. He was eating awesome, of course this could be b/c it was wet food and normally all he gets is dry. He is healing well. His stiches come out next Wed. He doesn't have lympofantasia or IBD. His protein numbers are up and he is holding them all by himself. The biopsy of the mass was REALLY pretty ugly. The upshot of the pathologists report, he/she said that while it was pretty ugly, it seemed to be contained to that one area and hadn't showed signs of spreading past that area of the intestine. It doesn't matter how ugly or how benign it may be, it still had to get the hell out or it would have killed him. His anemia has turned around and he feels better I can tell that more like himself. We were referred to the oncologist so that he can look every thing over and help us to decide on where we need to go from here. The cancer thing is scary. Please keep up prayers and good thoughts they are working and we do still need them. |
Glad to hear Peter is home and eating well. Also very glad it was contained to one area! We will keep little Peter in our prayers as he is going to the oncologist. SHODANUSMC, as mentioned above, just went through cancer w one of his dogs. |
Wish he'd chime in! |

You can PM me for any additional information. I am no expert, but it was a team effort. Carlo, the Specialist, and Carlo's family. We all wish you and your dog the best. |
They really didn't make a diagnosis of what type of cancer it was from the biopsy just that is was very bad and very ugly. The person who did the report did say that it was encouraging that it appeared not to have spread beyond that area of the intestine but that there of course is always that possibility. My vet checked surrounding organs and said that they all appeared to be in good shape and the blood work we had ran before showed nothing out of the ordinary or malfunctioning for other organs. Just the protein loss and the anemia. The anemia was from the worms and has corrected itself now and same with protein loss. The tumor take out solved that too. All those things help me keep positive thoughts. My vets path would of been to monitor and watch every 6 months or so. I'm not sure what path the oncologist will suggest or what I will do. I hope that it is monitor, watch, and be aware. Cancer is so unpredictable. Even statistics dont' help. Hell we could go years w/o ever seeing it again (which is my hope) and lose him to something different or it could come back sumwhere else tomorrow! You just never know and there is nothing that can help predict that. I keep hoping and praying for the best and am encouraged by the fact that he seems to feel pretty well and is eating, gaining weight again, etc.... |
