Update on Lil Ann: Annie had her ultrasound today and the Dr. said he couldnt find a shunt and that Annie's liver was normal in size and functioning great!:bananna::bananna::bananna:He said he looked over her bladder etc. and all was just great! Hooray!! I am so happy!! The Dr. even gave us a CD of Annie's ultrasound. We are still not sure why her bile acid was 96 for though:confused:I am waiting on our regular vet to contact me to see what he wants to do now. I am just thrilled her ultrasound came back normal. Her poor hair though. They had to shave her belly and on one side the shaved almost up to her back:eek:I am not sure why they did that. But it will grow back:D I also had a phone consult with a nutrionist up in Boston. She works at Angell hospital and her name is Dr. Rebecca Remillard. I am going to start home cooking for Annie and BJ both now. She gave me a specialized diet to cook for them. I really hope this does them good. Thanks so much to everyone for their support and prayers. We really appreciate it:ghug: |

Glad to hear another  for Dr. Remillard, I am planning to do a consult with her as well.. was hoping to do it this week but it didnt pan out, so hopefully next week. Glad to hear the good news on Lil Ann. |
How's the cooking going for BJ and Lil Ann? Dr. Remillard is THE BEST. When we found out Daisy had probable MVD, her numbers were terrible when her blood work was taken. Her ALT liver enzyme was over 300 and her bile acids were 106 (postprandial) .....we went on the Hill's L/D diet for a while and the bile acids went down to 33. The ALT went down to 179. We thought that was a good result. Then, I decided I did not want to do the L/D diet anymore for various reasons and contacted Dr. Remillard at Angell Memorial in Boston -- After 10 months on Dr. Remillard's diet, Daisy's ALT enzyme is 33 (normal is 12-118). Her postprandial bile acids are 13. Normal is 20 or less. Needless to say, this is an unbelievable result and we are thrilled. |
I am glad that her liver is normal size and functioning well. Ultra Sounds are only approx. 60% accurate in seeing a shunt, and the Tech doing the U/S has to be extremely skilled...So just because they didn't see a shunt on the U/S doesn't mean there isn't one...And you cannot see MVD at all, ever, on a U/S. Glad they checked over the bladder, bc the U/S is def. good to see if there are any stones, which MVD and LS dogs are prone to. I don't know her story, but the BAT of 96 is probably MVD. Did the Specialist go over all of this with you? |
Will be praying.... |
