Hi,
How's Oliver today? I hope he is fine. You did his 2 legs right? You are right. I would do it again if any of my babies ever need it. It is just that my maltese had no symptoms or pain. But glad that is over. Now he is trying to not be taken over by his 2 terrier brothers.

I Called at 3pm this afternoon and they said he is doing well and his appetite is coming back! Yay! We did do both legs...they were a grade 4 and he definately was having pain and difficulty with his mobility. So i feel good about it. I am a bit stressed about the aftercare, but i will get all the do's and don't do's tomorrow when, hopefully, he will be coming home. We have a Maltese now too and he is quite the character...he came on the scene and is the one TAKING OVER THE TERRIERS!! Thank you for checking back on Oliver...it means a lot to me! :)

Oliver is adorable and well worth the effort. He has the same ears as my Yorkie, Gus. All the best to both of you. Your little Yorkie will be home soon.

Glad to hear Oliver's appy is coming back. I'm sure he will be happy to get home. You will have to hide all of the balls!

I called this morning and got the okay to come today at 2pm to pick Oliver up!! I cant wait.....i miss him so much!! I will update when we are home!! Thanks so much to all of you!:D

Great news! He'll be happy to be back home. I hope his recovery goes well!

Great news and I bet 2:00 can't come fast enough. Once he is home you will be able to spoil him rotten.

:D It was a tearful reunion! He cried...i cried!! Happy tears though!!:) They had put him in his kennel and brought him to me...it was so good to see him! He was kissing me through the kennel door! He cried all the way home. He was so glad to get into my arms! He was even licking all his brothers and sisters noses! He is such a sweet boy. After the chaos settled down i took him out to potty. He needs support to not fall, but, he does pretty well. It is scary though..uggh. :( I will be glad when he is all back to himself again. He is not allowed to do anything but potty until the stitches come out on around the 18th. Then range of motion exercise 3x day.. I have a list of all the instructions of his care. Anyway i just want to let you all know that he is home and resting in his new little home for the next few months according to his doctor! Here are a few pictures of my sweet boy! Thank you all so much for being there in support and prayer! I cant tell you how much it has meant to me!!

Attachment 276240That is a morphine patch on his side. It and the bandages on his knees have to come off tomorrow! I am not looking forward to taking them off!

I am so happy to see the little guy made it home. He has one of the most precious little faces I have ever seen. No wonder you missed the little guy so much. He looks so comfy in his new home. I hope he heals quickly.

Wow, those pictures are awesome! Oliver looks like he's alert and recovering nicely.

I think we fall in love with these guys because they are so vulnerable and need our protection. So when they find themselves in a position like Oliver's, they become even more adorable.

Good luck with the recovery and rehab. I know it's going to be tough, but I know you're going to do a great job.

Thank you so much for the update on Oliver. It looks like you have made him as comfortable as possible. What a sweetie. He will stay in our thoughts and prayers during his recovery.

Isn't it cute how they shaved his butt but left his tail hair? Oliver, every boy deserves some dignity!:p

Oh I am soooo glad to see him home! He looks pretty chipper for what he has been through. I'm sure the next two months are going to seem like an eternity--especially for a ball lover like him. At least it is not during the winter! ugh What a sweetheart!

I have been out of computer commission for the better of the last couple of weeks and didn't see any of this. I am so sorry that Oliver has to endure this surgery but I am so glad that he has done so well. Hugs to you! and Oliver. He's a little trooper and will be back to his old self in no time. Just look at this way, he will just enjoy getting that much more spoiled by mommy and mommy will enjoy spoiling him that much more! I feel for you. The first week is the hardest but then you will start to see the light coming back into his little eyes and then he will start to start to actually get back to being himself again. If you need to talk, I'm here. :) Keeping you and Oliver in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Give the little one hugs and kisses from Hot Rod and Maggie May and me. :)

He is doing so well! The first few days were tough....i think more on me than Oliver! On the morning of his first day in my care i took him out to potty. Well, in trying to keep the house quiet for hubby, (he had an awful head cold) i let all the others come out with us. We have a chain link fenced area just outside the doggie door. Well, i figured i would just bring Oliver on the outside of the fence so that they could all see him, but not get to near and be able to jump on him to play or anything. Sounds good right? :D Wrong!:eek: I put Oliver down to potty and of course he came over to the fence to say hi to his brothers and sisters. They were all sticking their snouts through the fence and Oliver was licking everyone of them. It was so sweet.....until Benjamin (my new maltese 4mos baby) stuck his whole head through the chain link fence! :eek: I freaked! OMG...i snatched Oliver up in my arms and bent down to try to push his head back out but it wouldnt go and of course now he is frantic! Poor boy was scared to death! So was I...it is 7am and no one around! I prayed to Jesus as i ran around and came back in the gate and just as i came up to him he broke free! Thank God!!! So....now you understand why i say it was harder on me!! :( Things have settled down and we are falling in to a little routine here. Oliver has a stock of bully sticks to last him until he is allowed out of his house. That keeps him busy for a good bit. I give him breaks through out the day when i can just sit and keep him in my lap for a time to give him a little massage. Poor guy, he so wants to just be like normal and do his own thing! Well, here are a couple of pictures of him i took yesterday enjoying his bully stick. I bought them from AMD and they are great. The braided ones....no smell!!:D

How scary for you with Benjamin sticking his head through the fence. I would have had a stroke for sure. Glad it all calmed down and Oliver is doing well. He is such a cutie in his little tent. That is a great idea for keeping him confined. He really looks super comfy and cozy in there.

Oh Sherri...it was an awful beginning!! Thank God Benjamin was not hurt...just scared to death! Later that morning i had myself a breakdown and since then all is much better! I will get through this as so many others on here have!! I actually saw on one of the threads about little Tatum that Brooke got this one for her so i ordered it for him. It is on my kitchen table where he can get sun light and look out the window. He seems pretty content in there most of the time! Thank heavens!!:D

Wow, I missed the Oliver and Benjamin excitement. I'm so glad everything worked out. I hate moments like that of sheer panic and no easy answers. Sounds like you did great!

That is one GIANT bully stick. Eddie is so jealous.

What sweet pictures of Oliver. :) Wish Piccolo was there to chew with him. (Those are her favorite too. ♥ ) The fence thing sounds soooo scary. Glad things turned out okay in the end. Just keep it up.... You are doing great, Mom!

Thanks Sherri! Oliver is doing well! We got his stitches out yesterday! Yay...no more worries about them! :D He is adjusting to having to be kept in his little house. The bullies really help!! Can you imagine how bored he must be!!? But he appears to be doing quite well. I look forward to seeing the surgeon again (wont be for about the end of June) when they will do xrays to take a look at all that was done. At that point i hope he will be allowed out of confinement. Thank God Oliver is a pretty passive dog. It would be a lot harder if it were Brooklyn! We are going camping with family and friends with the travel trailer for the Memorial Day Holiday! We go to Jordan Lake...it is a big lake about 20 minutes from home, but when you are there it feels like you are a million miles away!! We are taking Oliver, Brooklyn and Benjamin with us...and of course Olivers special house!! I am looking forward to some relaxing by the lake. It is supposed to be nice this weekend!!:D

Hey great news that he is doing well and the stitches are gone. You are indeed lucky that he is such a good little guy.

We camp every weekend too, we went seasonal this year because of DH's work schedule. I can just pick up and go with the grandkids without worrying about getting the motorhome over.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend away camping, you deserve the break.
