Trying to not get too worried yet...
 
I don't want to jump the gun and start worrying to much but if you could keep Hot Rod in your thougts we'd really appreciate it.

I posted this thread the other day and Ellie May was wonderful in giving me some insight.

Well, I spoke with one of the vets at the office (Hot Rod's normal vet was off today) and she said that while he still has crystals in his urine, there is no blood. When I took Hot Rod in last week about this, his vet gave us a possible scenarios and treatments. Well with what the vet said today, I scheduled him for xrays on Wed. She said that one of the reasons he may not be wanting to walk could be stones and they might just be giving some discomfort when walking.

So of course, today, he was just fine walking but he didn't want to run when I started to jog (he would usually start a sprint). I don't want to get too worried yet but I am somewhat. So if you could send some good vibes, it'd be great! Thanks.

Awww, I know that the worst feeling in the world is when you know that your baby is just not feeling quite right. I will be sending lot's of prayers and positive thoughts for you and sweet little Hot Rod. :hearts-xx:hearts-xx:ghug::ghug:

Thank you all so much. So far he seems to be fine walking today. He even took a couple of quick paces with me but by no means sprinting. :confused:

Try to think positive until they tell u something is wrong... I know how hard that is but just call the vet and ask him what is on his mind about Hotrod..It may be as simple as some meds for a while...Good Luck honey.. Its so hard to stay positive when ur baby is not quiet himself..I catch my self doin this also...So I'm not good at it either...

Thank you. He seems fine otherwise and he and Maggie go zooming all over the place and he beats her up when she steals the bully sticks. lol. He's been quiet alot but when he does play, he plays.

I am definitely looking on the bright side of things...if there are stones, from what I've read, we could try a special diet. The vet sounded positive. The vets at this hospital tend not to sugar coat things-which is what I appreciate. Fortunately my usual vet was my old vet from years ago and I really, really like her. I was so glad to find her again. She definitely will tell it to you straight. I am going to speak with her on Wednesday and see what she thinks would be the best course.

I'm trying not to go nuts and it is okay since he still is eating, drinking and playing. If he were lethargic or something like it I would definitely be going nuts. Thanks for the encouraging words. :)

Oh Hot Rod Izzy is praying that you get well soon and that the crystals dissolve and pass without pain.

I had a Yorkie boy a long time ago with stones - it was tough on him.:(

I'm so sorry to hear about Hot Rod. I posted in your other thread about my cat Suki who had struvite crystals about 10 yrs ago. After this 1st incidence I started to feed him Purina for Urinary Tract as per recommendation from the vet and he never had another reoccurrence. Just last year he was diagnosed with Diabetes, which went away after several injections of insulin. So I've decided to switch his food to Wellness that has 'urinary health systme'. He's been on it the last few months and has been doing well. I hope everything will be alright with Hot Rod. I will certainly keep him in my thoughts.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Ever since I made the appt, he has been walking fine! Go figure. He goes in first thing in the morning for xrays so I will have some answers tomorrow hopefully.

I am hoping that a diet change will be all that we need to do. Glad that your baby Suki is doing okay.

*Update on Hot Rod*
 
(posted this in my other thread). Well, we went to the vets today and got somewhat good new and some bad news. At this moment in time, he doesn't have stones but definitely still has a UTI. There is still a lot of crystals in his urine. Vet can not be sure if he will develop stones from this as it can happen or not. So we are doing another culture, trying a new diet and new meds until we get results-hopefully by Friday. His pH level was at 8.

Now for the new issue that was seen today...

The vet can not be 100% sure, as they did not sedate him for xray, but one of Hot Rod's legs is is shorter than the other. It is also bowed outward. He wasn't very cooperative so she is not sure if it is in fact shorter since he didn't want to extend it. The hip alignment is off. She thinks that this is a probable cause for not wanting to walk. And in addition to this he has an apparent injury to his back. Could be from playing with Maggie or just overcompensating for his leg. She wants to figure out the UTI issue first and then figure out what is going on with his leg.

Thank you. Hopefully we'll get the uti cleared up with this round of meds. He was so tuckered out tonight. He was all curled up in the blankie next to mommy all night snoozing. :dogzzz:

Thanks, he finally ate something. It's been just about 24 hours! Vet really wants him to only eat S/O food at least til we get test results. The other bad thing is that he needs to take his meds with food so he's only had 1 dosage.:(
