I'm so very sad this morning...
 
... and thought I lean a bit on you my YT family.

My mom is 88 y.o. and since a few years she has Alzheimers desease. She gets worse and worse and has now been committed to a special nursing home.

What sadens me most is that she lives in Germany and I can't visit her even though she wouldn't recognize me anyway. I also know that she never wanted to live like that and she asked us over and over to please just kill her if it comes to that. Of course we can't do that but I can't help thinking that we can grant our beloved animals a death in grace and desency... (please don't start a discussion about that now, thanks!)

Maybe you could say a little prayer for her... Thank you!

I'll be thinking of you and sending our best.

Eddie just started therapy dog work, and we're visiting a nursing home where lots of patients have Alzheimer's. They don't always remember us from week to week, but they still smile when we visit. Some tell us stories about the dogs they had in their youth.

I love visiting them.

I am so sorry what you and your mother are going threw at this time.
I went threw a similar experience with my mother and I know how
you must hurt inside.

Terrible disease, my family went through the same situation with my grandmother, it affects the family members more than it does the patient.We received a lot of help on how to deal with the situation from several support groups.
Our thought and prayers are with you and your Mom.

Bless you and Eddie for doing that! I know I wished my mom could have somebody visiting her with a doggie. She always had dogs and loves them as much as I do. Unfortunately my mom is not one of the nicer Alzheimer patients. She is very violent and destructive...

I just want to send you prayers for you & your mom. I am currently going through the same thing with my mom. This is such a terrible disease, I miss my mom so much even though i go see her almost everyday after work she is not the same person she use to be. I am so sorry you are so far away that you cant visit her, that has to be hard for you. Again sending prayers, I know what i am going through and i wouldnt wish it on anyone.

Prayers for your mom. If you have the means or opportunity, you should go visit your mom if you can. She may or may not know you but you will know you went. God bless you both,

I lost my mom to Alzheimer's 3 years ago. She was in a nursing home for the last 8 months. She had become uncontrollable at home. It is very, very sad to see your loved one like that, my thoughts are with you at this sad time for you. Small comfort to you might be that she doesn't realize what is happening and may be content to be around others like herself.

I know, is so wonderful to see them smile, my father-in law was in nursing home for few weeks and we took the girls with us, all the people there was so happy to see them:) :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork

I work for a primary care office,and see this and how it effects the family /cartakers. I'm sure she had a wonderful life and always remember the fun and happy times you sharred growing up. Hang in there.:p
