Prayers for Lena-Emma & Milli's Sheltie friend One of my friends has a Sheltie named Lena, who is about 3 years old. She has been throwing up for 5 days, and went to the vet on Friday because she couldn't keep anything down. They kept here there over the weekend to keep a close eye on her and to give her IV fluids, but today she is not doing well again. She is throwing up and has diarrhea now, and her front legs are all wounded and bloody where she has pulled out her IV's numerous times. They are taking her into surgery now to see what is causing her sickness-they believe she has something in her stomach that is blocking her digestive tract and causing her intestine to swell. She has been known to get into the trash and have snacks, so I'm hoping it's just something that can be easily removed and this lil' girl will feel better soon! Please send prayers for a quick surgery and a fast, painless recovery for little Lena! |
Of course, prayers are being said as I type....Did they do xrays? I'm sure they did, had to ask....I really hope things go well and they find out the problem and solve it asap....It's tough when animals get hurt, they can't tell you what's hurting, it can get very frustrating and sad.....Again, praying for this to be over with and have a happy tail :):getwellso:dogsm2: |
Thanks for your prayers. Lena is out of surgery and awake already! It turns out she ate a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!!! She should be home tonight! So glad she's ok! |

Guess her insides are all scrubbed clean now....glad she's on the mend. |
So glad they found out the problem and fixed it. She should feel better real soon. |
well that will do it. Silly girl. SO glad she is ok! |
We are all breathing sighs of relief! Her mommy thinks she may have eaten the sponge about 3-4 weeks ago, and last week she got sick...I wonder if she had hidden it somewhere and eaten it more recently? Anyway, we are all very happy that Lena's feeling better now. They were going to try and give her some food around dinnertime and see how she did with that. I hope she can go home and snuggle with her mommy and play with her friend Zeke (a Boston Terrier). |
3 or 4 weeks ago??? Hmmmm. I really can't imagine a magic eraser would taste particularly good. Even a used magic eraser. |
Oh my, these furbabies sure keep us on our toes don't they? I'm so glad Lena is home and doing well now, hopefully she doesn't get ahold of anything else that will hurt her. Prayers being said for a fast and complete recovery. |
I am so very glad to hear that Lena is home recovering. It is amazing what our furkids will eat. Sending prayers for a quick recovery and that she will soon be back to her normal Sheltie self. and :hands: |
Thank goodness she is doing well!! |
oh, Suzy, I'm just seeing this now. So glad for your friend. How is the little eraser eater doing today? How scary. Hopefully, Lena has learned not to eat things that are not food :( |
Glad Lena is doing better.... I have a Sheltie, so my heart was sad... I love mine with all my heart.. Keep us updated on her progress.... :aimeeyork :) |
Thank heavens they found what was wrong. i can't imagine that magic eraser sponge tasted very good.. YECK. I am so glad she is doing better. Bobbi |
Thanks again everyone! Lena is doing well, and eating her normal food again! She is wearing a head collar when her mommy can't be at home with her, and she wears a onesie (size 24 months, she is a LONG girl!) to keep her from chewing at her staples. I think they come out in another week or so. |
