grooming I have an 8 month old Yorkie and I am having a real problem with his hair getting tangled. I use a good shampoo and cream rinse in a bath at least once a week. I also brush him every day but he still gets tangled. I keep his hair cut pretty short but on his back legs and bottom of coat are a problem. Can anyone give me some advice as how to make his grooming easier as it hurts him when I try to comb the tangles out? |
You didn't say what you were using to comb him with. Puppy hair is harder than grown Yorkie hair. Combs are the worst. If you are brushing your Yorkie at least once a day, one of the soft brushes with plastic bristles with the little rounded tips on the ends works very well I have found. You might also look at changing cream rinse. I found the "Ausie" (I think that is how you spell it) brand of conditioner works very well. Might also be your water. If you have very hard water, that makes a difference. Good luck and happy Yorky to you. Samc and Bailey:animal36 |
One more thing I thought of, when you are brushing your Yorkie, if you are not using one of those groomer devices that puts a noose around their neck while you are brushing, I found that lifting one of their legs, either front or back is a good way of being in control while you are brushing. You don't have to lift it high, just make it so they are on 3 legs instead of 4 and they are not as likely to wiggle around. ta ta:aimeeyork |
grooming Thank you for your information. He is real good about letting me brush him but I will try the things you suggested. |
