You can do a search for Pancreatitis..as many members dogs have had it and You might ask the mod (hit the triangle under your avatar) to move this to health threads. |
My older dog, Tahoe, was diagnosed with pancreatitis a long time ago. I simply put him on Dr. Hill's ID food and occassionally I would find a "easily digestible" dog food at Petsmart. I think it was Science Diet. This worked for him for several years. Just be cautious of the "crude fat" content in dog treats. Try to keep it down. Anyway, I had him on that prescribed food for 4 years and then he began vomiting alot and was very lethargic. My new vet put him on IVD (Venison or Duck), suggesting that he had formed an allergy to chicken/beef and suddenly, at 15, he had the energy of a 10 year old. Worked for him! Not sure if it's related to the pancreatitis diagnosis or something altogether different. ~ Kelly |
There are (Sadly) TONS Of dogs on here with pancreatitis. your dog needs to be on a VERY low fat diet. Sometimes this is with a prescription diet, or a low fat kibble. If you are planning on home cooking you need to consult a dog nutritionist to make sure the diet is balanced. You cannot home cook on your own- your dog's health will suffer. |
