recommendations for Houston i need groomer and vet recommendations please. I've used the heights vet clinic and petsmart. Where can I find a low cost clinic near the Westchase area? I would go back to the heights but the drive is quite far. Also, where can i find a good groomer? There's a lady in spring who charges $25 but again the drive is far. I think paying $40+ is ridiculous so can anyone recommend me any good, cheap ones? Can you also post before and after pics? |
I have heard that Bob Rogers is good. Here's his website. Critter Fixer Pet Hospital I like his philosophy and his prices are reasonable. If I lived in Houston I would use him. |
Welcome to YT! The only vet I've really heard about in Houston is Gulf Coast, but they are a referral center. So not somewhere you'd go on a regular basis, but if you ever have anything serious going on, I've head great things about them  Good Luck finding a good groomer. $40 is pretty average for a yorkie bath & cut in this area so I assume the average is a little higher in Houston. Can you believe it's normal to pay almost $100 for a yorkie groom in NY? I would just be cautious finding groomers though because there are so many bad ones out there. You might call different vets in your area to ask if they have a recommendation. I groom my dogs myself now...much cheaper and then I know I get what I want ;) |

Good luck. I wish I could refer you ..I never did find a groomer I would go back to and just gave up and do the girls my own self. A good groomer is hard to find in houston. ps - I did go here a few times - they're very nice & not too far from Westchase area - they're on Westheimer near Hwy 6 Jobpops Pet Services, Houston, TX : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! like my fairlacy said 40 it's average for grooming. As far as low cost vets. I don't know of anyone in the westchase area, but you can try SNAP (spay and neuter assistance program) and they do a lot of things at low cost Spay-Neuter Assistance Program: Welcome!. I volunteer for them once in a while. They are in the montrose area and somewhere around the 1-10 area too. Check out their website. Good luck!:) |
My mom goes to Dr. Brad, but he located in Katy off Mason and I-20. She loves going to him and so does her Eng. Bulldog. Plus the ladies in the office are great. |
I use the following groomer and she does a wonderful job! Has several different Yorkie styles that she can do. Costs is 32 dollars. Paw Prints Grooming 302 W Pasadena Blvd Deer Park, TX 77536 Map (281) 479-8847 |
I take my toy poodle to Pampered Poodle at Westheimer and Voss. I don't know how much he would charge for a yorkie. Lulu will go to him when she needs to be groomed. He is absolutely wonderful. Very patient and is very kind. He has Coco (poodle) done in an hour and a half. I don't know how he does it so quickly, but she looks great and is not all stressed out when I pick her up. One day, we talked for about 30 minutes when I was there to pick her up. I could tell he really cares about the dogs and gets a kick out of pet owners. He charges approx. $40 for our poodle. |
Ive been getting my 1 yr old yorkie groomed at PetSmart in River Oaks in Houston. She hates to be groomed and acts up everytime i take her. I feel guilty leaving her to be groomed by people i dont know. Im always wondering if they are cruel to her because she gets aggressive when shes groomed. Is cruelty common in big pet stores like that? I wish i could groom her myself but i dont know where to begin. |
I have been using Forest Shadows, in Magnolia, TX, for the last few months, but I find that they are very difficult to schedule except weeks in advance. They are very nice, the facility is clean, and the groomers are very loving. That being said, the cost is typically over $40, and I can get Graysee groomed at the local Petsmart for about $17-21. The groomers at Petsmart are, for the most part, very sweet and gentle with Graysee, but I have had to complain once about their failure to completely brush her tangles out. So, whenever I take her there, I typically brush her out myself when I bring her home. In between, I bathe her about once a week myself, and brush her out almost daily, and clean her eyes about every other day. I haven't tackled trimming her coat, or even her nails, but now since I've been reduced to a part-time, contract employee, I will see about learning how to do more grooming myself, and cutting our expenses wherever I can. I will never sacrifice proper health and nutritional care for my little one, though. She gets the best healthcare I can give her, just as if she were one of our children. |
