Central TX Breeders? Waco Area
 
Hello, does anyone know any breeders in the waco area? My wife and I just got married and were looking to purchase a yorkie puppy. Thanks for the help!

I live in Austin and I found an AKC Breeder in the Hutto/Manor area. It is a family that loves Yorkies and does it because they love them, not for financial gain. It isn't Waco but it isn't very far when you think about finding a good breeder. PM me if you want the details.

I chose them because they have a six year old daughter who spends her days playing with the puppies so they are very child friendly. The daughter was very gentle with the puppies and would run them all over the yard and wear them out. They have all the paperwork and screen people before sending puppies home. When I went out to their house to actually pick Scooter up (I had already made arrangements but when I picked him out he was not ready to go home yet), another person was there to look at the available puppies. Kerrie, the breeder, felt that the person looking was a little to rough and decided while I was there she would not allow a puppy to go home with that family. While it was sad, it really showed me a lot about the type of people they are and their love for Yorkies.

As anyone on YT can tell you, a breeder with a proper screening process is key to finding a smart, well behaved Yorkie.

Most of the ones in this area I would say....no, no, oh no, and oh HELL no!!

I recommend contacting some of the breeders on this list Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club There are none in Waco, but there are several in the Houston, Austin, and Dallas area..so not too far away. Definitely contact the ones in the Houston area..heard GREAT things about them :thumbup:

Thank you for being more eloquent about it than I was. :)

I just get really emotional about this. I see so many sick puppies around here from bad breeders. Please be very careful.

yeah, bad breeders are all over. The YTCA list is certainly no guarantee but I think it's a good starting place. There are good breeders out there...they are just hard to find. Yorkies are being so overbred, and there are too many unhealthy ones being produced because breeders aren't concerned with what they are breeding.

OP - be sure to do your research and ask the breeder a lot of questions. good luck

We found our puppy at KC Yorkies which is about 2 hours NE of waco. I spoke to the ladies on the phone and through email and they are very nice and I had also read a positive review on this website about them. We pick up our puppy on the 19th ill let everyone know how it goes and post pictures.
