Anyone here from centreal or west Texas?? I go to school in San Marcos and live here full time. However, my home is in El Paso and I go there frequently and that is also where I got Abbey. I was wondering if there are an YTer's from either of these areas. I ask for a number of reasons... 1. I want to see if I can meet with any of you for playdates for our puppies. 2. See if anyone has vet reccomendation for this area. I have already taken her into one vet a friend reccomended but I didn't like her so I'm looking for a new one. 3. Lastly, I was looking for a groomer. Pretty much all we have in San Marcos is Petsmart and I feel like they charge way too much. I don't know of any local groomers, I may have to go to Austin. We have one in El Paso we take my other yorkie to, but I'm hardly ever in El Paso. ALSO-I don't know if i ever formally introduced myself...I def introduced my dog. But I am Chelsey and my dog is Abbey, we are new here but I am already completely obsessed so hopefully you'll be seeing me around for a while. I LOVE YT and I am so glad i found it!! I have been around yorkies all my life...My dad got me my first yorkie when I was 8, Tasha, and she sort of became my stepmoms, so when she had puppies I got the babies, a boy and girl, Mickey and Minnie. Unfortunately, Mickey got ran over when he was less than a year old. Minnie is still alive and she is 14 now but doing good! She's totally wild. Doesn't act like a yorkie at all...more like a doeberman. Recently, my grandma got a male yorkie as well, Toby. Shortly after my sister FOUND a tiny male yorkie and rescued him, Noodle. LASTLY, I just got my yorkie, Abbey. And I am loving her. Now you know my entire yorkie life story, hehe. :aimeeyork |
HI Chelsey....just want to say WELCOME to you and ABBEY! I'm north of you... in Denton. :welcome4::yorkiesar |
lol im way north in wichita falls, tx! welcome! |
Hello! My bf and I are in Austin. We are also new to YT--we don't even have our Yorkie yet (hopefully by the end of summer). I used to live in Austin and took my cat to a great vet in Sunset Valley--Ben White Animal Hospital--but I haven't been there in a few years and haven't ever brought a toy breed to them. |
Hey welcome to YT! I live in Austin with CoCo. And there are some great groomers here too! I used to take her to uptown grooming, but now I take her to midtown grooming here in austin. But they are both pretty expensive. But if you ever want to meet up for a play date I am totally down. Just let me know when. Right now I am in the middle of finals but as soon as Friday comes I am done! Wahoo! I take CoCo to the outlet mall in SM sometimes to go shopping with me. But anyways if you ever need anything else don't hesitate to pm me. |
Austin here! Hi everyone! I live in Austin with my yorkie Lola (plus my two other furbabies & my old lady cat). I'm new on here - so HI !!! Keon |
Look at all the Austinites! There are tons of YT'ers in Central Texas. We have a pretty good state showing! Just do a little investigating, searching threads and profiles and such. There are a lot of TX posts in the Southwest USA regional forum. Glad to have you all here! |

We should all meet at one of the dog parks one day! Austin meetups are pretty easy to plan, we should think about it soon! Before it gets TOO HOT!!! |
Trainging I just joined the Yorkie forum today. Trinket and I live on the west side of El Paso and we are looking for Yorkie groups that are already established. Trinket is 18 months old. She has been to beginners training. She and I will be starting intermediate training at the end of June. I know it is me that needs the training. Trinket has already decided who the pack leader is and unfortunitly it's not me. Believe I have a little work ahead of me. |

Hi, I'm Delaina and we live in Dripping Springs, which is really, really close to San Marcos :) Can't help you with a groomer, sorry...but did want to say hi!! My guy's names are Cooper & Carley... oh and Lauren...it IS already hot here, silly!!!! |
Hahaha! You are too right! |
Thanks abbey Thanks for the reply and info. I am not sure how to use this system yet, so I probably make a lot of errors. I bought Trinket form a breeder in Edgewood Tx. I found her on the internet and bought Trinket because she looked like me in the morning. Her hair sticks straight up on her head. She is to small and genetically unsound. She has dry eye and I take her to an ophthalmologist in Albuquerque, nm. She has had knee replacement and she has allergies. I am glad she found me because I am retired and have the time and the finances to keep her hopefully safe and sound!!!! Thanks again for the reply. |
hi I just joined, I'm also from El Paso. I don't have a yorkie but am looking for one and have been wanting one since 2 years ago. I was wondering if you knew anyone or anyplace selling them for a reasonable price. |
What a small world. Scooter and I live in Austin and I grew up in El Paso. We go visit my parents pretty regularly. You will love YT and all it has to offer. Let me know if you want to set up a play date, Austin/San Marcos or El Paso, either one works. I can't really give you any San Marcos advice but I am sure someone on here can. Good luck! |
Hey we are from a little further south, Corpus Christi, but we go to San Antonio and Austin often! My Fair Lacy started a central Texas meetup thread! So hopefully we will all meet soon! Oh I'm Megan by the way, and my babies are Addison and Brady! |
you are missing out Hi Missingout, Reasonably priced is a very subjective term. I doubt that I will be much help. Trinket is very small and not genetically sound. Cute- yes, medically sound - no and she was very expensive. I do know that there is a breeder in Las Cruses who sometimes has a litter of pups that seem to be medically sound. They range from 3-5 lbs as adults and are very cute. I believe she sells them for $1500. If you are interested I can get you more informatiom. |
