Austin Groomer? I need a groomer in the Austin area. I've googled online but not too many reviews were left. I prefer south or central, not north, I'm never up that way! :animal-pa :animal-pa Guinness thanks you :animal-pa :animal-pa |
groomer needed :aimeeyorkHi, Did anyone ever help you with this? I'm new to Austin & looking for a groomer for my yorkie, too. Also a vet? Any suggestions? Thanks, Bev |
I only know north, not south. I use Shelly at Diamonds in the Ruff on Parmer Lane. I know a good vet Dr. Anderson at Milwood Vet Clinic 12400 Amherst Dr. Again, it is way north |
We like Jessica at the PetCo in Hancock Center (41st and Red River). I don't think that is too far north. She has been doing Scooter's hair since I got him and I will only go if she is there. As far as vets, we like Brykerwood Vet Clinic. They are close to our house and they have saved Scooter from problems a few times. Good luck! |
Austin DogSpaw I've started going to Paige at the Austin DogSpaw inside the Furr Factor (near Oltorf and 1st). I too live down south and all the downtown/central places were a little too north for a quick drop off. Anywho, Paige has been awesome. I've taken Seleena there twice (once for a "trim," the other time for a bath) and she's acted better than she has at any of the big chain places. If you take your dog during the week, they have doggy daycare so the dogs that get groomed get to hang out with the other dogs while they wait for you to pick them up. I just took her for a bath on Saturday and she had free roam of the store after she was done (they gate off the entrances), and they even took her outside on a leash to walk around. My boyfriend is one of those people who didn't understand why I was driving 7 miles away from my house to take her here when we have plenty of places within a mile from our house. When we went and picked her up and he saw how Seleena was acting and how they were with her, he actually told Paige and the owner that he was eating his words because there's a huge difference between DogSpaw/Furr Factor and chain stores. Plus, if you like to keep things local, this is a place to go. :animal-pa |
Ok, so Jessica is no longer with PetCo (I posted about her above). Anyone found another groomer they like? I don't want to leave Scooter at the groomers long so I am considering a mobile groomer.....any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks! |
My bf and I live in Westlake, so our vet and groomer are both off of MoPac. We go to Griffith Small Animal Hospital on MoPac and 2222, and I really like them. For grooming, we've taken Ella to Plush Pad on Anderson, east of MoPac. She has had to stay there a few hours each time, but they do a great job and listen to what we say we want. |
I tried to call regarding Jessica after your post and found she wasn't there. I had asked the question when new to Austin in August and have only taken Leo once to a groomer since then. Poor little guy, but I hate leaving him! I actually drove to Cedar Park, to check a vet who was recommended, at Premier Animal Hospital. My realtor, who works with animal rescue, said this vet also works closely with an animal rescue group. Got points for that! I don't think I saw the actual Dr. who was recommended, but the experience was ok & we were just there for the rabies update. They have a groomer as part of their 'resort', so I figured I'd try since they were connected with the clinic. What was good, was that they worked on Leo while I waited; he was only there an hour. I ran to the store & came back to him finished. I was really pleased about that. The girl was very nice, and Leo did not seem stressed. It may not have been the best haircut, but decent. Since then I have checked out a clinic on Red Bud Lane, near Gattis School Road because I now live near there. The clinic seems pleasant, and organized, although I haven't actually had the nerve to take Leo there. They, too, have a groomer & I made an appt, then cancelled the day before because I just didn't want to leave him. Pathetic, huh! I walked through the clinic & spoke at length with a doctor and the groomer, so I will most likely make another appointment. I don't know if this helps, but it's the only research I've done so far. Just as a BTW, at Premier Animal Hospital, the doctor who owns the clinic, apparently has a wife who is also a veterinarian, specializing in animal dermatology. I guess that's rare in Austin, so I thought I'd share that info. |
