91.035 Impoundment: Before any impounded pet is returned to its owner, you must be able to furnish proof that it is microchipped, current on rabies and standard vaccinations and clear of internal parasites. Otherwise a voucher will be issued for these procedures and the owner must provide evidence of compliance within the time period on the voucher. If your intact dog was impounded, it must also be spayed or neutered before it can be reclaimed. That’s $78 minimum, plus $15 per day boarding and minimum $100 spay/neuter voucher. Don’t forget that this counts as a first strike, and you could face Class B Misdemeanor charges as well.

This is horrible. If your champion Show dog runs out your front door or jumps out of your car in Louisville KY. It has to be neutered before it will be returned.

If it jumps up on someone and scrtches them it will be considered dangerous.

I'm not a show person but If I was I would not show my dogs in Louisville Ky

Maybe it wouldn't be so strict if they found a dog that is obviously taken care of and it just got lost. Like if they found a yorkie that was microchipped and had a collar or something and you came looking for it they would know that it was just lost and those laws wouldn't apply to you- I hope not anyway, that would be crazy if it did.

wow that sucks...they need to be spending their time making laws to ban puppy mills...and closing them down...i dunno

we had a huge discussion on here a few months back, right after it passed. anyway, latest word is that the city is "revisiting' the law. this has really hurt some show people and a kennel headquarters is moving it's operation to lexington, I heard.

I certainly hope they get it revised. I heard that it really hurt the dog show revenue. I also heard that this was all decided in a closed meeting. And they are challenging that was well.
