Looking for the BEST Vet in Orlando... Hello, I will be receiving my first Yorkie at the end of this month and want to make sure that she has the best doctor. Anyone have any recomendations for the Orlando area (preferably in the Millenia/MetroWest/Downtown area) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:animal36 |
orlando vet I take my yorkie, LiLi to the Sandlake Animal Hospital. I live in Metro West. It's on Apopka Vineland. Take Sandlake to Apopka Vineland and go left. It's not too far. The vets there are all good. The owner is Dr. Simons. He is a good old fashioned no nonsense vet. LiLi:animal36 got all her shots there. She was also spayed there. They took excellent care of her. I don't know how the rates compare. I will continue to take her there. |
Thanks nefertilli, I'll have to check them out.:) Anyone else have any recommendations or used Sandlake Animal Hospital? |

I checked in with my 8 week old puppy today and boy was the staff nice. How can they not be when they meet my Rusty? Such a stud! |

The staff was really friendly! =D But I think it's one of the more expensive clinics in and around Orlando. |
I pay $40 for the puppy wellness exam every time I go to my vet (Kissimmee Animal Hospital). They check all those things as well and they do the test every time she gets her shots. I think its worth it because of the problems these little guys can have. Reesee is getting her rabbies shot on Saturday and will then be done for a while. I think they are expensive at the beginning while they are developing and have their little baby sicknesses but then it tapers out... |
Orlando area vets There are two vets I highly recommend in the Orlando area: The Lake Underhill Animal Hospital on Lake Underhill Rd. and Geneva Oaks Animal Hospital in Geneva. Of course, Geneva is out of your way, but I love my vet. He's very kind and compassionate. Lake Underhill's vet is Dr. Hill and I understand he is one of the top surgeons in the state. Most of the local police and sheriff's departments bring their dogs there...they even have their own private entrance. We service their aquarium and every one is very nice. I've boarded my dogs there as we have our store in Orlando, which is almost an hour away from where I live and we often leave from Orlando after work on trips, so it makes no sense to take them all the way back home to our regular vet...who also has excellent boarding, btw. |
i know that this is an old thread but....I am looking for a better vet for my little Jacoby and just wondering if anyone else had any more suggestions for vets in the Orlando area. |
Have you tried Lake Underhill? They seem to be very, very good. |
I take Rico to Banfield, which is inside Petsmart. He goes to the one in Waterford Lakes. It is much much cheaper than going to a private vet (if you are on a budget like me). They have plans which are debited monthly, and you don't have to pay extra for anything! I have the Optimum Puppy plan, which covered his neutering (except for the pain meds). The registration fee was $90, + $22 a month. It includes all of his shots, neutering, blood and fecal work, etc. You get a 10% discount off of anything else you need. The total for one year of the plan is about what I would have paid for 2 series of shots somewhere else! I do recommend making an appointment; walk-ins take forever. They vets seem pretty good; although I have not met one of them. The nurses are really nice. Like at any vet/doctors office, you will be waiting to see someone, but it is not unusually bad. I will probably cancel his Puppy plan once he is a year old. It costs the same for the Dog plan... but since he will only need booster shots then, I am not sure if it will be worth it. Good luck! |
I think I am going to try Lake Underhill to get Jacoby neutered....I am just scared and I want him to go to the best little dog vet there is!! |
