My in laws lived just outside of Tampa for many years in a town called Palm Harbor it was very nice. |
Welcome to FL. Tampa is a big city. We live just north of Tampa, about 30 miles, in New Port Richey, just north of Palm Harbor!! As a teacher in Pasco Co for the last 26 years (yes I said 26), a school is what a student and parent make it. I have worked in public and private schools and I can tell you that the students who have parent support get a better education. You must know your child's teacher, write or email her frequently, ask your child about school daily, and check (NOT DO) your child's homework. Read to your child daily and keep a log of what you read, and ask your child questions (comprehension, sequencing, author's purpose). Good Luck finding a home and again..welcome to Florida!! |
It is location, location, location, Port Richey and Palm Harbor are close to Tampa. But Tampa is big, close to North Tampa (20-30 minutes) or South Tampa (45-75 min). It really depends on where your husband may be working. . . I lived there for five years--I worked in South Tampa, lived in Clearwater (well south st pete for a year), and my now husband lived in Valrico, so I know some about the different areas and about the drive. Mine was 35 in the morning and 75 after work. . . Schools are what you make of them, some are better than others, housing can be expensive, but both houses I owned there appreciated quickly. . . If I can answer any specific questions, fire away. . . |
I live in the Brandon-Bloomingdale-Valrico area. It's about 20-30 mins from Downtown. But you can double and sometimes triple that with all the traffic. The schools in the area are pretty good and there are tons of subdivisions out here. The only bad thing here is the traffic (as in all of Tampa). The subdivisions are somewhat newer then other parts of Tampa. South Tampa has older housing but it's pretty expensive for a median size home since it's so close to Tampa. My mom has a 1200 sq ft house in a decent neighborhood and it's about $275-300k. North Tampa is becoming pretty popular to live. There's a huge newer subdivision up there called Westchase. It's pretty much a little city of it's own. Housing is pricey there to. Any other questions i will answer! |
