There is a big dog show coming up in Perry GA on April 14-17

Curious about shows
 

I am interested in attending a show. It will be my very first. Can you tell me a little about how the shows work? Perry would be a small drive for me but not completely out of the way of visiting family.
Waht should I expect when I get there (as a spectator but wanting find out about showing dogs).
What will I do? What will everyone else be doing? Will breeders be there to talk to about dogs? etc.

This will be my first time going to this one so I'm not sure about all the details. Different events will be going on in different areas (i.e. conformation, obedience, agility, herding, etc..) You are free to go around and look at the different events. (Areas like competitor crating space will be close off. ) You can take pictures but don't use the flash on the camera. Everyone will either be competiting or watching an event. If you don't want to watch, there is a lot of shopping to do. You probably can find a ton of neat dog stuff for sale. I'm sure there will be lots of breeder around. Don't know if they will have time to answer your questions. Most of them are pretty nice and probably will answer your question if they are not competiting. There are breed seminar going on but it is mostly for breeders.

I think the will allow dogs. They have a fun zone set up where your dog can run a course. Of course you have to pay $12 dollar for you dog to run it. If you bring your dog remember to bring some water and poop bags for your dog.

I'm sure they are selling ticket to see this event. Not sure how much. You can probably get it at the door.

I am very much interested in attending Yorkie Shows in northwest Georgia. If anyone has information about upcoming shows, I would really appreciate you sharing that info.

Oooh, I'd LOVE to go! I even have an aunt that lives about an hour from there, in Forsyth, Ga.!

I have found a couple this fall bur more in northeast georgia. I don't know anything about them (how big or small, etc). I just found the dates. Hope this helps

FALL SHOW
FALL 2005

Our Fall 2005 Show will held with the GEORGIA CLASSIC CLUSTER on September 25, 2005. The Newnan Kennel Club, the Atlanta Kennel Club, and the Douglasville Georgia Kennel Club hold their Fall shows at the Atlanta Exposition Center South. In addition to supported entries, specialty shows are held the day prior to the first all-breed event.

Well this is cool! I'm from Warner Robins and my dad still lives there. That's the same county as Perry...about a 10 minute drive so I'm gonna plan a trip around this and go! I've never been to a dog show before and always wanted to see one live. :D My best friend is there too and getting married in June...I'm the Matron of Honor so I think a shower needs to be planned around that too so I can kill two birds with one stone on that trip!!

This is great. My daughter lives in Lawrenceville, so now I have another reason to show up at her house again. :thumbup:

WOW!!! This sounds great!!! Maybe some of could plan to meet up at one of the dog shows. What fun it would be to find some fellow YT friends and Yorkie Lovers!

I can't wait. I plan to attend the 8/26 one at least.
