Help finding a good breeder in Northern Kentucky Hi everyone, This is my first post here and I’m sure you’ve read many post asking the same thing. I saw many post talking about the same reputable breeders who raise show quality yorkies, but I just want a healthy yorkie as I have no intention of showing or breeding one. I have scoured the local rescue and have found nothing. The local ads scare me being this close to the Amish puppy mills. My Pekingese of 15 years died back in July and I feel it’s time to get a new puppy. It’s terrible lonely without the unconditional love a dog brings. Thanks again |
Welcome 2 Attachment(s) :welcome4: :yorkietal :welcome4: So glad you joined our growing family of yorkie lovers. I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet little Pekingese. Losing a beloved furkid rips a hole in your heart. If you are looking for a pup in Kentucky, the only recommendation I have is for Anna Stringer. She has earned the title of AKC Breeder of Excellence. My Lacie is out of her breeding. She is healthy, happy, loving and beautiful. You may pay a little more up front for a pup from a good breeder, but in the long run it is well worth the expense. I have included a couple of pics of my precious Lacie:... Otherwise I would recommend checking with rescues. There are many yorkies in rescue situations that would love to have a permanent family. |
Welcome to YT. The best puppy to buy is from a breeder that shows their dogs, reason for this is, that breeder is breeding for their next champion. You can be assured genetics on both male and females have been researched for any genetic defects. The momma gets excellent care, good quality food and has healthy puppies. Not all puppies in a litter will qualify as show material. Those puppies are sold as pets, not as show material dogs. What you get is a healthy puppy. That puppy may cost more but in the long run you will save on vets because you will not have a sickly puppy, you will have a healthy puppy and that is what matters most. |

Most breeders who breed for show alsoend up with some pet quality pups. The good news is that they take considerable time and effort to breed healthy pups that represent the best of the breed. You might look at: Visit Happy Tails.com This lady breeds healthy and lovely pups! She lives in Southern Indiana - close to Northern Kentucky. |
Hi and welcome to YorkieTalk from a fellow Northern KY member. I recommend the same breeder that yorkiemini recommends. Hope you enjoy your pup search journey. |
