Yorky breeders in NC I am interested in getting a young show dog or puppy that looks like it might be a good show prospect. I am looking for a good breeder in NC who shows Yorkies. I go to the local shows in NC, but have yet to see local folk entered. Has anyone here had any experiences with Camelot Yorkies or Excaliber Yorkies? I would also consider a good breeder in Va. |

North Carolina exhibitor/ breeders Go to YTCA.org breeder referral, plenty of reputable breeder/exhibitors in NC..... However, if your new and not known in the show world you'll have to pay your dues. Reputable breeders do not place their dogs in newbies homes until they know them. Your breeder will become your mentor. Yesterday 08:59 PM Mardelin, Thank you for your standard reply again. However, I am asking for local folks, experience (hence my question here in the regional forum). One of the kennels I am asking about is indeed listed in the YCTA's breeders list for my state. The other is not. Neither were in the last big dog show in my state this past September. Do you know either of the ladies or their dogs I am inquiring about? |

There could be multiple reasons as to why they didn't attend the last dog show in your area; conflicts from another show they may have entered or too, nothing available to show. I do know that many exhibitors are cutting down (economy) on the shows they attend. Making decisions on which ones would benefit them. |

I suggest before approaching any show breeder you try to show a little more respect. Word travels fast in the show world and as difficult as it is to find a breeder/mentor, it pays to be nice. |
Besides looking at the ytca site you can also pull up show entries on infodog.com: Results (lastest show results) and look up who was showing. But Mary is right, just because they entered a show in NC does not mean they live in NC. And handlers that show for others, travel and show all over. You can search past enteries by going back as far as you want and checking. Best way is to go to the shows and meet. I know it takes time. Best of luck. |
Your opinion of a big show is the all breed show. This isn't always important to enter in. If you're serious, you'll listen to Mary's good advice. It's going to take many shows or the right ones to meet the right people. It's nice not to call out names or kennels. Make it a point to meet a dozen or so good breeders before decide if it's for you. Go out to shows to meet breeders. How were you planning on having the yorkie shown? Where? I didn't like you announcing that you will pick a show prospect from NC to as far as VA. People don't decide if you get to have someones prize show prospect. It's up to the breeder. It's a gift. If someone isn't committed beyond the eastern seaboard it's a deal breaker. It's one thing to say you want a show prospect. But you haven't been showing. You may not like it. A mentor is CRUCIAL. |
