Fla. bound - Gulf Coast - anyone for a meetup??
 
Hi, I'm going to Sarasota in 2 weeks! I arrive on March 23 and depart on April 2. I would love to see about meeting up with some Florida YTers & their pups sometime between March 24-April 1.

Anyone interested??? I have already talked with mechchic3 - she needs to do something during the week of the 24th on a weekday due to her work schedule - she lives in the Tampa area.

But I'm up for more than one get together too ;) - if we need to plan a weekend get together! I will try to travel - got ask mom & dad for the car though :cool:

Well that is too bad! I know Florida is so big - and so many Yters spread out across the state. Just hoping someone is interested that is on the Gulf Coast :)

I'm not in FL but south GA. About an hour from Tallahassee and 5 hours from Destin.. Not sure where Sarasota is compared to those places...

But I'd be interested in a meetup/playdate if your close enough :)

you are probably about a days drive, maybe 450/500miles from Sarasota... Tampa maybe 400.. Good luck finding a meetup. I'm from Tampa and Chattanooga, but we will be in CHATT at that time.... maybe next time.....

Yeah!! Would you be available during the week? Pris (mechchic3) wants to meet on Wed. or Thurs?

Who else comes to your meetups? I know CollegeCutie - lives near Tampa, never heard if she got a job & would love to meet Maya's Mom to - I think she may be there north - or maybe closer to St. Pete :confused:

I guess I better say something to my parents too - before they start making plans for me :rolleyes: (and the car ;) )

That would be great - Sarasota, though is about an hour south of Tampa - not sure how far you are from Tampa

Oh, that is too bad! I go to Nashville fairly frequently - usually from there I drive thru Chattanooga on the way to my brother's :)

That would be great if everyone wanted to come to Sarasota to meetup. I'm sure there must be a dog park in the area (I'm sure my parents would welcome all of us - but my only hesitation is there yard isn't fixed. But we could be out on the lanai next to the pool in the cage ;)) Or we could meet south of Sarasota in Venice at the doggy beach, there is also a small dog park there that I usually just walk thru to get to the beach & then shower off the dogs in the park before we leave.

I had meant to call Pris today & confirm the day with her. She needs to do it Wed or Thurs this week. Would one of those days work for you? I'm going to be offline soon - and probably won't be back online until I get to my parents late tomorrow afternoon. I will try to call Pris in the morning - while i'm twiddling my thumbs for 2 hrs at the airport. Do you have any ideas on where to meet? Pris said I could come to her house. My mom suggested the outlet mall between Tampa & Sarsota - she said she see people there all the time with their dogs

Plus, I would gladly meet up with others another day. I am here until April 2. If someone wants to come up from the south - we could even meet & go to the beach. There is a decent doggy beach in Venice.

I will be in Orlando the first week in May for the WES conference. I'd love to share a cup of coffee with some YTers. I won't have any furbutts with me, but I'd LOVE to meet yours.

Cindy, Wish I could do that! I'll be packing my dd up at college then & going back to Ioway! I hope to meetup you in VA in July, but I'm currently on furlough - that's why I'm in Fla, but yesterday (1st day of my furlough) my company announced they were freezing all salaries (thank God - I got my pay increase just 20 days ago!) & requiring us to take another week of furlough in the second quarter. Let me tell you that is about a 7% paycut right there for 2 weeks off without pay (and my raise wasn't anywhere near that as they are so stingy right now) So, I'm hoping i will somehow still be able to be at the VA meetup.

It ended up being just mechchic3 & her two & me & my 2 today. We had a great time getting to know each other better. I'm really open the rest of my trip. Church on Sunday morning. But then free the rest of the day. It would be great to do something. carsou was going to come today, but at the last minute her plans changed, so maybe we could all do something. She said maybe go to the dog beach in Venice.

What would you like to do? Go to the beach?

I am planning tomorrow evening to go to St. Armands Circle A unique shopping experience in Sarasota, Florida - St. Armand's Circle Association tomorrow night - extremely dog friendly area. There is a pet boutique - Wet Noses - they have a wine tasting tomorrow evening & live jazz for something, I think called Jazz in the Circle.

Early sat. morning I might go to Lakewood Ranch for a 1 mile walk with the dogs to benefit the Human Society of Manatee County Humane Society of Manatee County

Well today wasn't the best beach day :( with the rain earlier. I'm planning to go to Venice to the doggy beach tomorrow --- anyone interested??

ok - I got going too late today, and just ended up at Siesta today to sun myself. But for sure I want to go either Tues or Wed. - most likely tomorrow, Tues, to Venice to the doggy beach! Anyone want to join us??

I only have these 2 days left :(
