Help with attachments
 

I am having trouble getting attachments to work. When I try to attach a picture. It says it exceeds the size allowed. I noticed that there are some of my pics under the manage attachments area. Is that the problem, are they using memory size? How do I get rid of them and use NEW pics?

I will try and help. Your pics in JPEG format cannot exceed 200KB. If they are larger, they need to be resized with whateve photo application you use. What type of computer do you use - Apple or PC? In the mean time I am posting the following from another thread in the "My Yorkie Pictures":

Click on Browse to choose what pictures from your computer you want to share. There are no filesize limits to posting pictures in the Photo Gallery, so any digital images from your digital camera should work fine automatically.

For posting pictures on the Forum side of YorkieTalk, please try to post pictures as attachments rather than linking a picture from another site. Long-term, the picture may stop working via linking, whereas if it is saved as an attachment, it will never be lost.

There is a maximum filesize of 200KB for JPG/JPEG files, and 150KB for GIF files. Any files bigger than those will be rejected as attachments. Most digital camera files will be bigger than the maximum filesizes. The easiest way to resize your photo would be to use a program that can resize your picture, such as Irfanview (which is free and downloadable at the link below). The maximum filesize is to save some space on the forum servers, as well as help out the dial-up users. By uploading pictures as attachments, dial-up Internet users can opt to view the picture if they would like and not be forced to download huge files within a thread.

The best picture sizes to use for attachments is either 640 by 480 pixels or 800 by 600 pixels if you want a bigger picture. Here is a guide on using IrfanView:

After you have made sure your pictures are under the maximum filesize, you can create a New Thread or Reply to a message and add an attachment to your post. Click on Manage Attachments and click on Choose to find the picture on your computer that you want to upload. Then click Upload to upload the picture, and Close Window after you are finished uploading. Then click on Submit New Thread or Submit Reply as normal.

I take pictures in my documents and go into edit pictures. I resize them to 350, and click save. I then put them into a folder for future use for here. I lable the folder sm jpeg.

Scroll to PixResizer……Download the program..it’s really small and very easy to install – Depending on the size of your image you just have to click ONE SIZE (USUALLY 50%) or 460 Pixels and it resizes it for you... you have options of manually telling it what size or using a slider

I added a screen shot of it - that's the whole program on one single screen...very easy to use !!

I downloader pixresizer and resizer some pics. and saved them. Where did they go? Because when I go to attachment paperclip above and browse for pics only the ones that are too large come up. How do i find the ones that I resized?

I just checked the thumbnail above. When the main window of pixresizer is open, on the top left corner is option 1.- "Select source and destination". The "source" is your original picture. Click on "destination". When a new window opens, select your DESKTOP as your destination. Now, when you resize a picture, your newly created image will appear on your desktop, where it is easy to find. Hope this helps.

hehe - I did that too way back when I first started working with pictures....Personally - I like a folder for my resized photos to go in ...that way I know they're already sized for posting and my originals are still intact and my desktop stays uncluttered...

what I did was create NEW Folders in 'MY DOCUMENTS'

Then, name the folder RESIZED PICTURES - & when you're re-sizing - you click that new folder as your destination ...and they're all there for you.
