Closing threads When admin or moderators close threads, i think it would be useful if they post why. By doing this, you would eliminate everyone starting new threads asking what's up. Half the time lately I can't figure it out, I see nothing wrong with them. |

Good idea. |
  good suggestion. |
Admin does do that on some threads |
Sounds like a good idea. I agree that I wonder why some threads are closed when it seems a good debate is going on with lots of different view points and them all of a sudden it is closed and not sure why. |
they usually can see where the "debates' are headed and stop them before it gets too bad. i bet the person that started the 'debate' always knows why the thread was closed. What some call debate, others call attack. |

I think some things are better left un-said. It might be best to not know why and leave it at that IMO. My thinking behind that is sometimes people are or tend to be just abit too noosey for their own good. Although it might be helfpul it may also re-open a door that admin closed. I tend to feel closing it without reason might be best, it gets dropped without any recall that way. |

I think it's a good idea - Seeing locked threads usually has a negative connotation - and a little explanation at the bottom would be nice :) |
Stating a reason would be beneficial. Yes, some that are locked are very obvious as to why, but lately I've seen them locked for no apparent reason.....Posts that are being handled in a civilized manner, providing education, etc. Even heated debates are beneficial, as long as their is no character bashing. |

It's so easy to use the report button, cry-me-a-river and what is there left for admin to do? I really think that is some of the cases in the 'debating' threads. It puzzles me why such educational threads are closed. I really enjoy your postings as well as others who have equivalent knowlege and are happy to pass it on. It's evident that not everyone does and getting the paddlock put benefits them in a way? I can see if everyone is being nasty and most of the time debates are good.......especially if handles in a very respectful and clean way. I hate to only see one side over and over...........I appreciate education. That is what keeps me here. Maybe that is the easiest solution to handle.......putting the paddlock and set limits on what can be discussed or said? |
