Hi,

I've been a member here since Dec '06. I love the site and it's full of information. One thought that comes to mind is and probably has been addressed before but, Why are so many threads about the same topic over and over? I know everyone is worried when their fur ones get sick, they are not acting normal, something out of the ordinary is happen or what not. I know I'm guilty of doing that myself couple of times, but every since that time I use the "SEARCH" button and most of my questions are already answered. The search button is a great help and if we start using more often then we can save a lot of server space.

I'm not trying to bash on people or start something but if you search before you post, you might find what you looking for.

Just a thought for the moderators of this site.

Sometimes it's just faster for someone to fast post and get a response than take the time to dig out one in the search function. You can usually get a answer and it will be very current from someone that just had the same problem and found a solution.

I'm sure just about every topic has been talked about at least once. So if people don't keep repeating, there wouldn't be anything left to talk about.

I kinda love seeing same topics come around. It kinda reminds me about how it was for me before I got Haruka. I had tons of questions.... I don't know how to explain this, but I just love seeing people asking questions so that they can be the best mom/dad they can be! :) I just love it!!!

Sometimes it seems like that they are same questions, but maybe sometimes for some people, they might be slightly different...

That is my opinion!

I can understand your frustration.

However, the Search function is really not that great. I searched today for both "flying w/ 2 yorkies" and "owning 2 yorkies vs. 1" - and came up w/ zero.

The search only works well if you can truly find results w/ only one or two words, like "pee pads" or "yorkie size" or "ear mites" etc.

I think, and this is just my opinion, when someone is worried about the "fur babies" it goes beyond just searching for an answer. People that feel fear like this sometimes also want the support of others. To have a person just post, "I don't have any answers for you, but your dog is in my thoughts."...well, maybe a person that is worried wants answers but also that reasurance. As much as we can through a computer, it is nice to comfort that person that is scared/worried. So yes, I see your point, but I think that when a person posts a question about their "fur baby", they want a personal answer. I hope I am making sense. :)

We are a community, not a search engine. One reason to post is for support and encouragement within that community. Sometimes I might have a question or a concern and viola, there is a thread that addresses it now, even though the subject must have been spoken of several times before. So what. What harm does it do. Frankly, I enjoy the humor and whit that the posts have.

Personally, I haven't found the search feature to be all that helpful either. As for the same topics being brought up...we have new members all the time and if the topic isn't brought up again it may never get any new input. If you find them annoying why not just pass them over and go on to the next post?

I myself like to share my own experiences and hear about others. The support is also great. It makes our site more personal and we become friends to turn to for good and bad...:p

The same posts keep this site going...as do the new ones!!! :p

i am so glad someone said this. i have seen this happen too many times on other boards - someone will post about the repeated questions and people are scared to ask because of the reply they may get from one person.
my grandmother always said there are no stupid questions and if you do not know ASK!!!! who cares if it has been asked before! i love the way everyone supports each other.

Great post Tammy...I totally agree with you and It really kind of makes me sad that anyone would get frustrated if I posted a ? that I really needed the support of my YT friends for......We dont wont to aggrevate anyone, but just really want support..

since i am fairly new to YT, I probably have asked questions that have been answered before but then i wouldn't have met so many neat YT'ers! You never know when someone new may have a whole new perspective on something. Even if it is something that has been around before, it is nice to be able to respond to someone new. It is just the neighborly thing to do!!
Why have a chat group if all we wanted to do was look up FAQ's! :)

Members are advised to use the search function to find immediate answers to questions they may have if they wish. Utilizing the right keywords for search will help, for example, if you are searching about threads about bows for boys, searching "bows boys" can lead to good results and discussions, such as:

We always welcome new threads and new posts, regardless of whether the topic has been discussed before or not. Sometimes their question is slightly different from a previously discussed topic, sometimes it is exactly the same. More opinions and replies can't hurt.

Titling the thread appropriately will be helpful. Members that do not wish to read about another thread about tinies or about bad breeders can always skip the threads they are not interested in. If members want to reply and share their experience or give their support, they may of course do that.

I think sometimes people use questions as a way to reach out for whatever reasons - maybe they don't know how to use SEARCH, or maybe they just really need to ask a question. :D even with repeat topics there's always different people posting on each so if you look at it that way - it really isn't the same thing over and over

my peeve is when I see titles like....HELP ME !!!! NEED ADVISE !!! and you open it and it's about someone needing a name for their dog or something. LOL ....smack !! :D:D so ya....Admin said it - Specific Thread Titles do help alot -

The SEARCH feature is great but when it comes to connecting with people ...a post is the best way....After being here as long as I have, I may skip over posts that I've seen a ton of times UNLESS that person only has a few replies...then I try to say something...

One way to help is look for the posts with the smallest amount of replies - you never know who's day you'll make a little nicer by taking the time to post to them.

Yep, I agree. :thumbup: The support is one of the main things here! To know that people are thinking about you and praying for you is terrific and has helped me many times. Plus you make friends that you might not otherwise meet if just using the search engine. :)
