Admin....Please Help....Where have my Smilies gone Please?!!!!?
 
I love my YT, and I love my Smilies.....but for some reason I'm unable to incorporate them anymore in my threads or posts.....


I haven't disabled them.....please help me, I feel lost!!!! (I would do a sobbing, praying thingy here, but I can't....instead I'll do a 'made-up-:D-one instead) Sally x

How about if you type in the letters does it work then? Someone just told me that can't do smiles on the message pages, I'll have them post on this thread. What browser do you use? Have you tried a different one? :eyeballpc

I've never, ever had trouble with my smilies - as you know, I use them galore!!! :D (I just made that grinny-smiley up with a colon and a capital D!!!).


I've put the originals in my threads, in responses to posts....all over the place....but they've all disappeared for me :( (colon, start bracket....!!!).


I miss the hiding under the chair one sooooo much!!! Sally x

:hide2: This one is written this way :hide2: , if you just type it in do you see it? When you say they've disappeared, I'm not sure if you mean from the threads, or from the smilies' list. Is the problem that when you click on them, they don't automatically show? What browser do you use? Maybe it needs an update, and of course the old stand by of restarting your computer, sometimes clears up a host of problems.

Oh, Sally, I can't imagine your posts w/out your smilies! Have you run your computer clean-up programs recently? My computer will lose certain online abilities on this site if it's built up a number of errors over time. I lost my smilies once and lose Spellcheck rather often. Once I couldn't bring up the post a picture window. Running the cleaning programs, restarting it and I am right again.

Hi Sally,

The smilies page isn't working properly for me either. I miss them - it's not the same posting without them.

I can only use the few smilies I'm able to type in.

I have checked for any problems with my laptop and everything seems to be running as normal. It is only the YT smilies page that won't work for me.

I also can no longer access smilies-they're there taunting me but clicking on them doesn't work. Neither my laptop nor my sister's laptop will allow me to use them. However my sister, if using her YT account, can access them using her computer. So doesn't this mean it's somewhere in my YT account that's disabling them, not my computer? Darn, I always loved my smilies.

The smilie box comes up, but when I click on one of them (as I've always done) nothing happens. I didn't realise there was a problem until they didn't appear...:(


When I click on 'more' - that box comes up too - but again nothing happens when I click on them too, aaargh, I miss them so much....!!!!


I've re-started my computer many times, but still nothing, this has been going on for a couple of weeks? All my security etc. is up-to-date - Simon virtually sorts that out for me.


I'm sorry that others are experiencing the same thing (not that I'm wishing yuckiness on ANYONE!!! ;) ) but I'm slightly relieved that it isn't just me.....

That's exactly what's happening for me. And also, as I said, it happens on 2 computers, one of which is having no problems giving my sister's YT account smilies. So it's gotta be my YT account, not a computer problem.

What browser are you using? My guess is that it may be a security flaw. To get around it, you could try using a different browser or "copying" the letters that stand for the smilie and paste that or type that.

Why can my sister get YT smilies using her computer but I can't get them using that same computer? :-(

Yes, that it interesting. Which editor mode are you using? See the little rectangle box on the right side of the message board? See picture. Click on that and change the formatting and see if the smilies work. The default is "Enhanced Interface," and "Standard Editor - with extra formatting controls" might work better. If you want to change the default, you can find this option at the bottom of this page, under "Message Editor Interface" http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pro...do=editoptions. Basic doesn't have many choices, but sometimes the supper enhanced can cause problems.

Sally you can try that too if you understand what I mean.

Yay, glad it's working, it should work with "enhanced interface" and I'm not sure why it won't work anymore on that.

So admin, we've narrowed the problem down a little, do you have any suggestions, besides not using the enhanced interface?

Mine haven't worked for months I've just been dragging them or copy and pasting them. Some I know the code and can use that others I need to search for.


Nancy I tried what you suggested with the "Message Editor Interface" and still nothing. Mine was set to enhanced. :confused:


Plus for some reason neither has my "Insert Link" capability ! I wish I could figure that one out.

It seems like the A/A has an on/off which I can't see, plus every time I need the smilies I need to click it again. And sometimes one more time.......So maybe some of you can try it again.

Yes, you can't copy and paste a photo if you are not on enhanced for "Standard Editor" you have to paste the "address" of the photo, not the photo. Hopefully admin will fix the glitch and you can stay with enhanced. It's pretty easy to switch back and forth by clicking the A/A seen in this photo. Similes won't work in enhanced, use "Standard Editor - with extra formatting controls." Again you can switch back and forth easily by clicking the A/A found on the top right side of the message board above the smilies. When you are in "standard editor",the smilies will show up as a code in the message box, but they will show up correctly when you post
