I must pick the wrong threads to read... I think I am missing alot...Might be best that way. I like to look at all the pictures the best. anyways. :D :D |
I am glad someone mentioned "spelling," "punctuation," and "grammar." Bad punctuation, spelling, and grammar do destroy a person's credibility. They are the hallmark of a person's education." There is no excuse for bad grammar other than a person's just not caring. I work with several young girls who are attending college, and they can't speak more than three or four sentences without making several grammatical mistakes. And, they could care less --except that they do admit, it is keeping them from getting A's or B's in many of their classes. To me, bad grammar is like someone scratching their fingernails across a chalkboard. It hurts!!!! If a person's grammar, spelling, and punctuation are bad, I regard that person as under-educated and initially, until I learn differently, I don't give a lot of credulence to much of what they say. I have found that the only people who disagree with me or others on this subject are usually the people who use bad grammar, can't punctuate, and don't want to use a dictionary, if they can't spell. They say, it doesn't matter, it's not important, and people shouldn't be judged that way. I make mistakes in my posts also...often....but I try not to, and I almost always look a word up if I'm not sure about the spelling. ------------ I don't visit this forum for the intellectual expertise that it offers. I enjoy it because of all the great people on it who have and love Yorkies. I also realize that many of the people on this forum have had a lot of experience with these little dogs, raising them, caring for them, and breeding them. Most of the people here express themselves very well, and I love asking questions and hearing all the different answers and possible solutions. I have had so many of my questions answered. It has been a great help to me. I don't come here with serious problems looking for well educated people giving professional advise.....but many people here are very well educated and do give very good advise. This is a forum for dog owners about dogs. And, it is a wonderful place to visit to get advise and share experiences. I think this forum does all that it is meant to do ---very well! Carol Jean |
IMO I think threads just go the wrong direction because of replies. BUt I dont read everything. |

Sorry...just wanted to lighten the mood! :p |
And the topic of this thread is....(in reference to grammar, etc) I'am always amused at how fast a thread is picked apart and torn to pieces (thrown off topic). This is when I lose interest and find a new thread. If we can stay on topic of the thread that is originally posted then I believe a debate can stay just as that, a debate. (not an attacked argument). And, if the thread isn't one to cause debating, then just maybe we can learn or share in the experience that the member has even started the thread about. ??? I have often wondered if a member has ever looked back on their thread to only shake their own head and question why it took such a turn, normally a turn for the worse. I would think this has got to be terribly frustrating for the member. |

I thought of this when I got on this post- I am still in the dark and I don't know how to work all the features of this forum. Question: If you could live forever, would you and why? Answer: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever," --Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest. I don't give a lot of credulence to much of what they say. I couldn't help myself..hehe, but as an English major-"credulence" is not a real word-but it sounds like a good Bushism. I think you meant "credence"..and advise is something you do (advise someone) advice is something you give. Just playin around-don't mean to offend SnoWa :) All in good fun! I think we ALL make some spelling and gramatical errors, but we have to remember that most people are speaking conversationally and not proofing their posts to be turned in for a grade. Sorry to get off topic, I just couldn't resist!! |
Very interesting! I am a newby to YT and I am really learning a lot! Mainly about how to treat people and use proper ettiquette on line. No, seriously, I am trying to learn from you people by reading your 'opinions', but it does get a little old listening to the gripping. I get enough of that every day without 'listening' to it at a great website like YT. Can't we all just be civilized and help each other? |
Isn't this site about Yorkies, cute, adorable little dogs well all love? I'm going to tell it like it is, for me at least. I love my dogs, and yes I dress them up and take them places in purses and call them teacups on occasion, this does not mean I am a bad person! I read the threads on here to get information and to see cute pictures or hear cute stories. I don't think it's fair to say someones' story is not important just because they talk about something common their dog did the previous day or to say someones' comment is rude when it's simply the truth. The truth of the matter is that this is a public forum but it is regulated, say what you must but don't be offended if the moderators or others do not think it's right! On the ideal that peoples' information is not correct, I read all the comments and if peoples' ideas contradict one another than I know it is time to call my vet, and in any case if you are concerned about your baby call you vet no matter what. At times I think it is just a comfort to get an idea of what may be the cause of your problem until you can talk to your vet. And my last comment lol, I am a senior in college and I do not always spell everything correctly and I make grammar mistakes but guess what?? I am a 4.0 student at a major university studying psychology. I guess I was not aware that my posts were being graded! I am a little concerned when someone who says they come here to talk to people and love dogs can be so outright rude to others just because they might not be as intelligent as them. From how I was raised I learned to be kind to people and respectful, I realize not everyone is a college graduate or as educated as I am but that does not mean I think lesser of them, their heart is the only thing that counts! I LOVE MY YORKIES AND ALL OTHER YORKIE LOVERS!!! :aimeeyork |
