GE Suggestions With a few things that has happened in past GE's, I was just wondering what you think about increasing the length of time each person has to be a member for the GE? I know that the spending limit was increased which I think was a great move!! But wondering if adding that they must be a member for a little longer length of time would be a good idea. What do you think? |
I think that is a really good idea Rhonda. I have only been in 3 GE's so far and there has been at least one issue in each one:( |
Right now the requirements are: "...a member three months or longer as well as have at least 250 posts on YorkieTalk. This is so that members can get to know you and your Yorkie better." I think maybe 6 months? Or even a year? |
Not that I've participated in a GE, but I have observed the issues as an outsider. Of course, life happens sometimes and that affects a members ability to participate or ship out on time. Having a member who has been here longer helps because you get to know them better, and that member is more comfortable when reaching out to say Admin or another member if ever a problem arises. Overall, better communication would help a lot of the issues that I've seen on these GE's. |

I agree about the length of time a person should be a member. I think this would weed out those who become members and then see that there is a gift exchange and stick around just to participate. GE rights should be earned... In my opinion :) |

I am all for this...I hate to see a great idea and tradition ruined by new members who dont play by the rules...but then that would exclude Luma and myself from this next GE coming up!!! :( Maybe there could be a way someone reviews participants who sign up and accept or deny them based on their contribution on YT from their posts..but that'd be a lot of work for admin/mods. :/ |
Or maybe first timers should have to be reccomended by past GE participants for approval. Like everyone who signs up in april and its their first GE should get a kinda background check of sorts? Itd be weird to get a buddy you've never even spoke to... |
Curious - what have been the problems? :confused: If you move it to a year that puts me out :( and I had a fantastic time. I had problems with shipping but made sure they didn't affect our secret buddy. Just curious. |

This is something we have to sign up to participate in, correct? My computer skills suck and I just read the instructions...too much computer stuff for me!....cant post pictures, etc....I certainly did not come on here to get gifts....just to read and learn and contribute where I can.... |
