Order of Posts display. I customarily like to set my Options, where the most recent Post is displayed first. This works for every "section" of the site, except for one. When I enter the OFFICIAL TeaPot Club from my Group Membership section of my Profile, it displays correctly, but, When I get a EMail that there is a Post unread there, when I click on the link, the OTC Forum page is displayed with oldest first. I've returned to my Settings Page, and made sure that option was set to Newest First. Is there some other setting I'm overlooking ? Have a good Day ! :) S.W. |
There may be a bug in the forum software as we do not see any other places to change the display order. |
admin, Thank you for your prompt reply. It dawned on me, unfortunately after I had already deleted the EMail notice, that you may like to see the Link, back to the Thread. There may be a mistype therein, which causes this. When I get another notice, I'll save it and get it to you somehow. Thank you again, S.W. |

Nancy, I'm so glad you spoke up !! This is not the first time I've had an Options problem, not that I think anything previously is related to this. I always set my replies to "instant". How about you ? Do you think that may be the issue ? Have a good Day 1 :) S.W. |

Okay I figured out how to subscribe to the group threads, (under thread tools for those who aren't aware) thanks for telling me about this, I still don't know where you found the option of the "Posts displayed first. " |
Nancy, HA, I was about to tell you, you had to subscribe to the Groups individually. It's possible that when one post, that they are atomically subscribed, but, I'm not too sure about that. On the "Display Newest Post First"... Go to, UserCP, then Edit Options, then scroll down to Thread Display Options, then see the setting in Thread Display Mode, and I have Linear - Newest First, set. That's the only place I know of, to set Newest First, and I looked around on the Group Page, and there was no setting there for that. So, I think since you've already got that set that's as good as you can do. Adm, said that it may be a Software issue, and it that's the case we may have to live with it, as inconvenient as it is. Also, did a Post in Yorkies Against Puppy Mills Club.. Let's see if you get a notificaton... |

Edited to add: Oh it did make this post show up as number one, I don't like that, I only wanted it in group so I wouldn't have to look through pages I'd already read. |
I have troubles with this to. Thanks for posting all these tips, I'm going to test them out. |
Nancy, It's possible that one can control the Public and Group setups individually, but, I don't think that's possible. Maybe Admin can comment on that. Anyway, I'd go though each of the Groups and check to see if you were subscribed, just in case. |
SWHouston also told me on a test in the Yap social group that: Quote:

Hay JM, Glad to help ! :D Ya never know who's looking in on stuff. I'm a Moderator on another Forum, and I KNOW how complicated the setups are in the Software. It can be a Admin nightmare at times. |
Nancy, I AGREE completely ! When I started "joining" the Groups, I noticed how old some of the post were (those most recently placed), and was suspicious as to how much "traffic" they had. It's sort of a paradox though.... Lots of the stuff we discuss, is pretty important, and needs to be out in Public Post, where all can read/benefit by it. That's not going to work like that in Groups... IF you're not subscribed, then you don't get stuff, you have to go look at everything IN the Group. So, I can't see that being much more than a "social" place to meet and talk small stuff. SO FAR ! Unless this notification things gets straightened out. |
Ohhh, I love how it shows the group on my usercp on the bottom now that I subscribed. I think this will be very helpful because it lists when the last post was made so I don't actually have to go into each group to check now. |

You might want to write a thread about this in General, more people will see it. I'm not as concerned about order of posts as I am, "new posts", this is something I don't think most people know. |
JM, YES, that's a great feature, but... I'm not sure if it's just going to display the Threads which you have Posted to, or, anything that's Posted in the Group. (don't know that yet) HA, just watched your Avatar !! you got some real cute pups there !! ;) |

Nancy, Yea, I noticed the changes in order as well. But, on Posting stuff like this... ummm That really need be done by someone in Admin, who knows or finds out how it really works, and puts it in a FAQ or in that "How To Guide. I'm not lazy, I'm just not qualified to create an Article which is genuinely informative. |
