Another suggestion ? Puppy Mill Help Section ? I noticed a big response to the Puppy Mill Threads we posted the other day - Someone mentioned maybe could we maybe have a section dedicated to helping with this awful problem ? I think it was a really good idea.... that way people wouldn't have to search the main board - if someone read a thread that caught their interest - it would all be in once place for those who want to help spread the word .... I know there are many good links and letters in the threads about Mills and Pet stores... and not everyone wants to read those threads - but for those of us that do....I would love to see them all in one place if this can be arranged. this is just a thought and thanks Admin !! |
Awesome suggestion!!!! |
yeah i agree there should be easy access so we can educate ourselves and others. good idea |
i think this would be good also! |
Helloooooooooo Admin ? I know how busy you've been with the server and how many sections this site has already but is this feasable ? There are still so many people who don't really know this is such a problem in this country. If I beg and whine will that help ? :D :D |

Just a wonderful idea. Adm. after you have a day to put your feet up and rest a bit could you give it some thought?? |
The rest time is over - I guess the answer is a no.... I found THIS today and wanted to share - it's horrifying - HERE IS WHERE PET STORE PUPPIES are born into and they parents are doomed to live in. FACTS about Puppy Mills Dogs are bred & rebred every time they come into heat. They live outside most of the time in cages with wire bottoms where they get caught and tear they legs or worse. Sometimes these are stacked where the feces & urine does down into the cages below. Outside in hot or cold temperatures Rain snow it doesn't matter. They are not protected. Many times there are several in one cage crowded and crapped The filth is enough to make them sick and there is no vetinerary care for those who are or are injured. They are never left out of their cages- never loved or handled. Babies are born with defects from the abuse. They are inter bred which can lead to more defects. They are feed only enough to keep them alive. Most of the time the food bowls are empty and no water. Some places ram pipes down their throats to keep them from barking. Puppies are taken from the mothers long before it is time. They are shipped in trucks sometimes across states overcrowded and not taken care of. Brokers take them to pet stores to sell. They have not been checked for defects or any diseases. When a puppymill puppy is bought – the owner can end up paying thousands of dollars because of the conditions they were bred and transported in. A lot don't even make it. They die before they ever get to the pet stores. If they are deformed and not good for more breeding they are killed in inhumane ways. They are never socialized. They never get out of they cages. Many of these puppies are born with genetic conditions of the heart and lungs, seizures which sometimes don't show up for years. Many of them have parvo, worms, mange, and various other disorders. Even if they come with registration papers – it does not mean they came from good breeding conditions. The AKC receives revenue from the millers for these registrations When the parents are no longer useful to the millers they are disposed of- (shot- beat or what ever methods they want to use. ) |
I agree , what a good idea. |
I'm confused.....is Millbusters not online anymore? Admin created an entire website dedicated to this issue with a direct link right? I thought that was so phenonmenal! I just checked...Millbusters is still there. Why don't you want to post the Puppymill stuff there? |
I agree V! I think that's a great idea.  |

I KNOW they are reading this site and thought maybe a small section dedicated to helping educate people would be nice and actually get read..plus it would keep them in one place rather than in General Discussion where they get lost. Don't you agree ? Why would we NOT want something here ? People really do read the threads here - I can tell by the views |
I think its a great idea!! unfortunatly, Millbusters seems to have died. hardly anyone posts there anymore. :( |
I agree there is NO activity on Millbusters,, I have posted things and I go back NO action,,, I think a section here would be good... If not we need to direct more to MILLBUSTERS,,, Go check it out EVERYONE... sign up,,, post... Anyone not registered on millbusters.com should go register... lets get it going...  |
Good idea ....but I'm still going to whine about having a section here - I just know we can reach lots of people that may not click onto Millbusters - when I get bored I always cruise every single section here - some I hardly read normally - and would think we could fit a Awareness Section in this site somewhere....But I'll be BACK on Millbusters too if you all will be there again :) |
I agree... I just posted about the video on Amish puppy mills in the Genereal Discussion AFTER posting the link in a thread in the Off Topic where I was afraid it would be missed... Great idea, Villette! |

LOL !! OK I'll stick to begging and get that whiney tone out of my words :D Pleeeeeease Mr. Administrator ? Can we just have a little itty bitty section where we can put our puppy mill information ? Pleeeeeeeeeeease ? I have some smilies for you..... :kiss2wm: :kiss2wm:   |

But, this is my fear about having an entire section devoted ot it here is that people wouldn't read it. Most new members stay in the General and My Yorkie sections unless they have a health concern, etc. The regulars move around a little more but I am just afraid we would then HAVE TO post it in that specific section and it wouldn't get the attention. I may be wrong and I would be all for it if it worked and actually got more attention. |
That's my point - on Millbusters ....The posts ARE getting missed...where as here - as people wander around - they'd be sure to see the posts - I know many people are in the Breeder Section - Off Topic and For Sale Sections - why not a Puppy Mill INFORMATION Section ? the first thing I think I'd put in there would be Do NOT buy From PET STORES - too many people still don't know this - When we had the Puppy Mill posts going in General Discusion a few weeks ago .... I was very surprised at how many people didn't know these situations exist in our country.... and many people still don't know NOT to buy in Pet Stores.....I actually got quite a few pm's from people on this site who just didn't know till they read the posts here. I remember how I found out - it was because it was mentioned on a yorkie site - which is why I would LOVE to see it here ALL the time and not just mentioned in the General Discussion where they get bumped and gone. |

I konw you do Rhonda and you're really getting involved and I just love it - way to go girl !!!    IF anyone wants to add to this request I did a poll http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23957 I haven't heard from Admin (starting to feel like the stepchild here :) ) so I thought I'd get everyones feelings on it and then ask again - but I think it would be a great way to keep ongoing education visible and lots more people would learn about this sick business if we had it right here on Yorkietalk |
Sorry about the slow response, we have been discussing this issue at length with many people that are involved with YorkieTalk, including our legal team. We will not be adding a section on puppymills here on YorkieTalk. After much consideration and discussion, we feel that while puppymill threads are fine here, due to potential legal issues, we will not be having a section on puppymills here. The primary focus of YorkieTalk is about Yorkies. We created MillBusters because we want to stop puppymills and we are outraged that puppymills are still operating, and we would like to direct all efforts into that site. Remember, MillBusters started just like YorkieTalk did, with just a few members and a few posts. It can be as popular and as influential as YorkieTalk, it just takes time for people to find it, just like it took time for YorkieTalk to grow into what it is today. This does not mean you need to stop talking about puppymills here on YorkieTalk, but we feel it's probably best to direct all anti-puppymill efforts into MillBusters. Feel free to post on MillBusters and then share the link with other sites or forums or even here on YorkieTalk. Focusing on MillBusters to help stop puppymills will be more beneficial than just having a section here on YorkieTalk. |
