Breeder Review Suggestion. This is more for the members and less to do with Admins and Mods. It would be really great if anyone that is doing a breeder review to please come back and update their thread 6 months later, 1 year later, and maybe even 2 years later. I keep browsing some of the breeder reviews and many people jump on as soon as their baby comes home and review the breeder. It seems to me that the initial review is done while the new mom/dad is blinded by new puppy love. If the breeder is really great, they will stand the test of time. If a problem arises, that's when a breeder either shines or shows their true colors. Most problems don't start immediately, so it would be nice to have an update in case anything does go wrong. I have seen some members absolutely RAVE about their breeder and then a few months later, or even a few years later come back to share a horrible experience. I wanna hear good reviews too! I guess it doesn't have to be an update on the same thread, but a quick update would be nice. |
Very good suggestion! |
Thats a great suggestion! |
I've seen this too, and I suspect many breeders ask the person to give them a positive review. Anyone reviewing a breeder before the first year just means, I paid the money and got a dog. |
I agree, I have been there and done that! I posted a review very quick and I should have waited. |
Why am I not surprised that only a few people agree that this is a good idea? |
I think it is a good idea. I have bought several dogs from great breeders and never done a review. I have told them that they could always use me as a refence. I have never asked a buyer to give a review either or every will. I also seen people jump the gun and give a bad review instead of trying to work it out. I think maybe why there is not more response is people don't come to this section often. I know I just wondered up on it because I was bored. |
I'm starting to wonder how people "surf" YT. I keep reading, "post here" or "post there" so more people could see it. What I do is on the YT home page (click on YT banner) and click new post in the User CP box in the upper left hand corner. That way I see everything that is new and I don't have to surf through specific forums. I also search the unanswered threads in case someone has a question that has been pushed down due to all the other posts. You're right about reviews, either way people jump the gun. |
Maybe that is what I need to do. I come right to the forum and jump around. I think this is the first time I have even been in this section. I miss alot but sometimes I think that is a good thing..lol |
I think you're right. We can live in ignorant bliss that way. :D |
That's a great idea:thumbup: It should become a "must read" before a review is posted. All threads from that section should be moderated too, there seems to be some with personal vendettas that use YT for their war:mad: Not to mention libel/slander issues. Not everyone that posts a negative review about something is doing so to help others. |
You're right. People jump the gun to post a negative review as much as the positive ones. Either way they should allow some time for the breeder to help, or for them to show their true colors. |

First I think it is a great idea. I also think that having a premade up breeder review form would be excellent. This at least would give some pause for a poster to have a wider picture that includes more than I have such a cute pup, breeder was really nice , she answered all my questions. |
