I didn't mean to apply that your computer was or is slow! or that you used aol it was just as an example in regards to how programs can use up memory!you offered your system specs and claimed you didn't know much about what it all meant, so I just responded to the specs of your ram 1GB and just suggested that you could upgrade your memory and your programs would load
faster than they do now! the 4 sticks you mentioned are 25 x 4= 1.00 GB.

Jbarile - you did not offend me i know NOTHING about computers but my brother is a manager of a big place and he taught himself he built my computer as his also from scratch he spends lots i mean lots of money computers he also builds computers for lots of people his computer is prob the fastest ever mine is just below his he get peices before there even out he just bought a new computer screen its one of those flat one its huge lol hes gonna come home one day and im gonna steal it lol

lmao! :p Sorry, I had to laugh. Please don't take this the wrong way but, no you do not have 80gb of ram. We have hi res work stations (dual 2.5 PowerMac G5's, liquid cooled) that run with 6gb of ram and that's a ton! You have an 80 gb hard drive. If you're just browsing websites and run either XP or OSX 512mb is more than enough.

If you are running a Windows OS spyware can slow you down a lot. Try adaware on your system and it can help a lot.

Whoever said having a Mac is a strike against them.... simply not true. Now having an old Mac, yeah sure same as having an old PC. If you are on a newer mac do not use Explorer! it hasn't been supported/upgraded in a dogs age. Use Apples own browser Safari or Firefox instead.

We have to understand just how fast yorkitalk has grown. Some growing pains are to be expected as I doubt scalability to this level was anticipated. Patience is a virtue here. If you want to help, donating to the site is a great idea. Remember yorkietalk is free but if you enjoy the site donating what you can is a great way of saying thank you AND that money can go towards improvments.

Harbinger -- you forgot to mention that it is nearly impossible to get spyware or viruses on a Mac. I have a new 14" iBook. I do not consider myself a "geek", but I definitely try to promote getting a Mac as much as possible. Safari is the best.

Lol yeah I did forget to mention that, thanks! :) Not nearly, but impossible at present. There is no spyware that will work on a Mac and the only viruses are vb scripts (MS Office) and what are called proof of concept viruses. These are potential viruses, but ones that don't exist in the wild (on the internet).

Yes there is the argument that Macs are more more secure because hey, why write a virus for 3-5% of the market when you can go after the big guy? Still, OS X is based on UNIX which is IMHO inheritantly more secure than Windows. No, I'm not a Mac fanboy, I use both at home and administrate Windows and Apple servers at work.
