Admin seemed open to the basic idea of starting a thread in the "Wanted" forum. I wanted to gauge interest level before we got official sign off, but it looks like enough people might want to do it, so yes, I'll bug admin. I'm thinking for the addresses, that each person in the chain will PM their address to the person who is sending the box. The order of recipients will be public, just not the addresses. |
YAY...I knew people would go for your idea Quick....I love the idea of posting a pic...when each person gts the box!! So kewl!! Let the fun begin!!:D |
I know I said I would love to do it but I have a question... Is it okay to let your baby chew on a stuffie that another dog has chewed on?? Just asking. I guess you could wash it. Would that be enough to clean it enough? I don't know just asking?? |
Sounds fun we are in. :) |

We're lucky if toys last more than a week in our house so it will be just clothes from our end... |
I'm just a little concerned about the toys, like what kind. I guess I'm thinking of health reasons. Now before anyone say's anything, I'm NOT saying anyone's dog has something. I just think perhaps we might think "precaution"? That is why I'm asking. Just like I wouldn't take a ladies bra or undies. Laughing my arse here. |

LOL Yah we won't be including any stuffed animals either ...but we have kongs...and other toys like that to send!!!:D |
If we had to be a donating member, I'd probably only be able to do it if they lowered it to like $10, or had it just based on a number of posts if you aren't a donating member (a high number like 300-500 posts if you aren't a donating member) or something. $25 is a bit much right now, especially since you would then have to pay for shipping to send the box on. I love the idea though. |
Sounds good to me! |
I think this is a great idea. Don't forget harnesses and collars! How about dog dishes and other lightweight smaller items? |
I dont think we would have to worry too much about any germs:p!!! The toys we should all be giving would be ones that our furbabies didnt like and never played with or barely played with. We dont want to give anyone anything with chew marks in it:p! I think clothing will be given most. I have some sweaters that were never worn. I tend to buy things and never use them, I always go back to the same few things:rolleyes:!! |
I think it's a fun idea. What about having separate boy clothes and girl clothes exchanges. With my luck, I'd get all dresses for my boy! Donna |
:thumbup:I love this idea but if it gets too big we might have to break it down into groups by region or it could take a year for the box to go all the way around. Requirements should be 1. Donating members and 2. At least 1000 posts I think we can get to know a member pretty well by the time they have posted that many times.:) |
Great idea! I didn't read all the posts, so it may have already been mentioned, but maybe it could be a rule that you have to put in the same number of items that you took out, so the box keeps getting regenerated and it never runs out... so if you take out 2 items, you have to replace it with two more and so on. |

What you think a good chain length is? If we're thinking business shipping, 5-9 business days, + 10 day grace period to send the box along, that's 2-3 weeks per person. Since the GE's are 4 months apart, I think that would indicate 10-12 people per chain. Assuming we start with fifty people, maybe we have five boxes of each going around a ring. Once the first person gets the original box back, they send it to a different chain. I think this would work. I like math. :) I am happy to be the "chain" coordinator. |

I can't wait to qualify for all the cool and fun stuff everyone does around here. I only wish I joined earlier :) I think this sounds like a great idea. I like the carrier thing. |
or maybe a "human" exchange with yorkie theme? |

I thought the same thing!! That way everyone gets to choose from the same number...if you want to add ONE more thing...then that's your choice!! I think seperating it between boys and girls is a great idea...for the clothes boxes... But 1000 posts is a bit much!! (100 posts seems fair) And Donating 10.00 seems like a nice number! |

I think you would be a GREAT coodinator!!! If I can help..I'd love to!!! Keep me in mind!! Also I was thinking that when the box gets to the last person in the chain....why not have them send it to the next CHAIN...instead of the same person that started it...that way they only have to ship out that box once! :o) And that would also depend on how many chains people sign up for!! Will take some definate planning...and tracking |

Oh well I could be out because I'm not a donating member but I could do that. But I don't have 1000 posts. Well I just notice that I have 917, so by the time we figure this out I could have 1000 I hope. |
Yes, since we would be running it in this forum. I don't know if Admin would be willing to do this, but maybe we could get the concept of "Junior Donating Member" going with a fee less than $25. That donation would get you access to this GUGE (Gently Used Gift Exchange), but not to the full one. Any donating member would have access to both, assuming they met the requirements of time on the boards and number of posts. |

Yes it goes to YT....that way we can also be sure that everyone that participates have a vested interest in YT!! But I really think 1000 posts is a bit unfair....you only need 100 to participate in the YT exchange... |

The GUGE!! I love it!!!! what do you think about the Post requirement Quick? |
I think if the donation requirement is lower, maybe we make the other standards a little stricter, but not much stricter. So maybe: $15 donation 200 posts Must be a member of YT for at least 3 months before joining. |

I like those requirements....those seem very fair!! Plus it helps that I qualify for them all!! teehee |
