Nancy1999's account has been fully restored. Her avatar, profile picture, and friends list unfortunately were corrupted and we could not restore those parts of her account. So if you are Nancy1999's friend, please send a friend request to her. :)

Well, I'm back on, and I want to thank you for all for the kind words, I felt a little like Tom Sawyer hearing his own eulogy. :D C101Yorkie thank you for starting this thread. I was going nuts trying to figure out what was wrong. I could get on Yorkietalk but only as a guest, so I couldn't post, it wouldn't accept my password or even my e-mail address for a long time, and I couldn't notify admin. I saw the word, "guest" by my avatar and thought that only my computer was showing that, and the glitch was with my computer. Your thread made me realize if you were all seeing that, it wasn't my computer, so I could quite doing all those techie things I know how to do like "restarting" my computer. When that doesn't work, I usually resort to unplugging it. Lol, I'm not really the computer wiz that some of you think.

Anyway, I sure hope my post count comes back, right now it says zero, and perhaps when I post this my total post number will come back. I'm going to guess between 6200-6800, I know I'm usually shocked when I read how many I have.

Admin, if I ever get suspended, I think it would only be fair if you took a day off my suspension for "time served." :D

Even though, it says that I have no friends, the thread made me feel a little better, thanks.

It's about time. Guess you had computer problems the same time as YT crashed. Probably that damn spider did it.
Do you ever do system restore to an earlier time? :cool:

No, I didn't have any computer problems; I just thought I was having them. Normally, I don't have to put in a password here because I use the "remember me." feature. What made me think I was having problems is that sometimes people say that they delete their cookies and they have to resign in. Then when I saw "Guest" written by my name, is was really confusing. Yeah, I have used the system restore feature before, especially after I've downloaded a new program that whacked up my computer, that's a great feature.

I was going to start a thread titled "I Have No Friends", with this smilie :cry:

Darn, I'll bet if I'd done that I could have beat 4doggiemama's number of friends. :mad:

I do delete cookies to speed up my computer. It is a pain in the butt to sign in and remember passwords.

You can set up your computer so that it holds fewer cookies, some people set up the computer to hold 5-10 percent of it's memory in cookies, that's way too much memory to allocate for this task. If you set up you computer to only allocate 1 percent or even less, than it automatically gets rid of the old cookies when it reaches that number, however, it will keep the cookies that you are visiting on a daily or weekly basis so you don't have to sign in to your favorite places. I got a few weird things going on. You know where you write your message is it white or light blue? My has always been white, but now it's light blue, and seems more like a word processing document, than a note pad document.

Also I can paste a message written in word processing and it pastes it exactly like I wrote it in word processing. I don't have to give it instruction to underline, it will just paste it how it was written. Has this been the way it's been all along?


Like if I want to write something in the Bloody font it will do that

ok - for all of you in the know this is going to sound goofy :rolleyes:

But when on Friday did YT crash? (I'm a central time gal) -- I have had soooo many computer problems for the last 2 weeks, that I haven't been able to get on YT or do half of the other things I need to do so often - that I had no idea YT crashed :confused:

I'm assuming it was when I was at a business lunch

There are three different types of message editors on YT. There is the basic one, then a standard editor with a few more capabilities and the other is the WYSIWYG editor which has a lot more of the options and is the one which is what you're using now. If you want to go back to the other editor then you can change it in your User CP. When I first joined the forum was defaulted to give everyone the standard editor and I changed mine to the WYSIWYG. Maybe admin changed it to default to that one now.

Sorry to hear about all your problems Nancy! I see I'm on your friends list again!! Yeah!

It was sometime after 11:15 Arizona time, and when I tried to get on a page, it would just say, YT was experiencing difficulties. Eventually, that evening I was able to access YT, but it didn't recognize my name, password, or email address. I could read it as a guest, but that's all. Concerning time zones, it's 1 pm in AZ as I write this. Just check the time it's listed as being posted, and you can figure out the time difference.

Oh I love you, that's what it is, all right. There are lot's of advantages to using this, but some disadvantages too. I can't see the paper people use on their profile pages in the message board part. Ok, I'm off to play with the settings. Hope I don't cause the server to crash!

Thanks Nancy! At that time Friday morning I was working from home & in much frustration. I have a pc for work - well - that's a story. They switched me to a MAC on Thursday night - but told me to keep both laptops for awhile to make sure they got all my data transferred --- but low & behold some of the programs I needed to access I couldn't access on the mac behind the company firewall. Then on the PC - I couldn't access email saved off the server. I was literally working on deadline in much frustration, 3 1/2hrs sleep and almost tears going between two machines to meet my deadline and get to an appt on time.

I got your PM earlier and was going to tell you that I could relate to your pc problems - those things are just filled with too many options for virus attacks. I also have a pc laptop of my own that got attacked & I just haven't gotten fixed because I have the work one - but I'm planning to get it fixed soon (it was a very expensive one so it does make me mad), but the next time I buy a new laptop it will definitely be a mac!

I don't think it was my computer, I think it was YT this time. If it was my computer, I don't think others would have seen the word "guest" written by my name. I only access YT through this computer, so that wouldn't be it, and I've never had another account here.

By the way, concerning times, I've never been able to figure out zones, and AZ doesn't change time, while it seems like everyone esle does. So what time does it say you posted your reply? On your post it says, "01:09 PM" but that's in my time zone, what does it say on your computer?

your 1:09 is my 3:09 -- yes, I used to have a boyfriend in AZ & that time zone thing was always interesting depending on the time of year.

One more question for you - I am confused. You said you had a white dot? Mine show green for on (or is that go YT :D) and blue for offline. I don't get all that code that Vicki was talking about & haven't gone to check how mine is set.

Ok, so we're two hours different, last year I had such a hard time figuring out when to be here. I'll just remember two hours different then Yorkiesmiles time. :D

I'm confused too, not sure what you mean by white dot, or what I said. Mine is like you describe, and shows a green light if someone is online, and blue for offline. What I was describing is the message board where you type the message. Look at the picture below to see what I see. Picture one is the way the message board looks to me now. Picture two shows a white background, and this only shows up when I try to edit my post.

Thanks for the screenshots - I don't know how to do that at all :confused:

But - loved your explanation - and yes, I have the version you previously had -- sounds like I need to upgrade! But was someone saying something about downfalls with this system - I'll have to go back & read.
