Files or Library Section Is there a reason that YT doesn't have a files/library/learning area so that websites and articles can be posted without them getting lost in the forums? One of our members, dwerten, suggested that there be a sticky about liver shunt and one about pancreatitis. Then I guess if we did those there would also need to be stickies for all other common Yorkie diseases like LP, CT and hypoglycemia. Anyway, that is a lot of stickies to clutter up the top of each section. The same goes for things in health and diet like vaccines and what questions to ask the vet before surgery. So would it be possible to have an area on YT with this information maybe next to "Regional" and "Donations" on top of the screen or giving it its own section on the forum? Does that make sense? Just a thought. :) |

Finding a mentor for breeding or showing How to treat fleas How to remove/treat ticks Transporting a puppy Yorkie standards - including something on colors (and there is no such thing as a "rare" color :mad:) How to find a vet Holistic practices/Acupuncture - with links for finding a vet who specializes in your area I think stickies could still remain in the forum they are stuck to, but if we created a library or a fact section - there could be another sticky - with just the link to the original sticky (does what I'm saying make sense to you all?) I think we could call that section something like: Yorkie Library or Yorkie Facts or Yorkie Reading or Yorkie Reference Room or Yorkie Reference Library |

What about worming protocol Special recipes such as whelping pudding and weight gain What I see happening here is a YorkieTalk Book -- Everything You Need to Know About Yorkies A How-To Guide Each topic would be a short chapter - one or two pages..... Hummmmmm |

Update, someone has volunteered to develop some content for a "How To Choose A Vet" thread...so we will have that one checked off the list in the future. On the other topics....anyone, anyone....Bueller, Bueller? :p I will be taking on a few more as well...but I wanted to see if anyone else wanted to take a stab at something. :) I think we need a good thread on "How To Approach Allergies" (something like that, anyway).... |

Having a YT book is a fantastic idea!!!!!! And I'm sure even the most experienced would buy one. Another thought would be, if it is a very short book, and priced low, breeders may purchase them and give them to each owner that purchases a puppy. That would then be a continued donation coming into YT by the breeders. If I were a breeder, I would buy them. It saves a lot of questions from the buyer. And it helps the breeder by giving them a book, all about Yorkies with tons of information. Again, the price would have to be low enough to continue to purchase them for each litter. Or perhaps, the breeder could offer to sell the new buyer the book. I'm sure new owners would. If breeders think it is too expensive, I guess they could add it to their adoption price! Thoughts??
