If I'm not mistaken, pm-s can be read by admin. |
When you get a private message doesn't it have to say where it came from?? Everytime I get one or send one it states who it is from.. |
ya thats wut i want him to do...track down the person who pmed brutus' mom and other people |

Unless vBulletin has had major changes since I ran several forum sites. Admin's only option would be to manually change the email address of the user who left to their own. Then have a new password sent to them. Admin can then log into the account and as long as the PM was not deleted they will be able to retrieve it. Otherwise PM's are really Private. As is your password. Admin can make changes, but not view. But this was the old way. vBulletin has had many upgrades since I used it. |
I believe they are monitored. |
Since Admin isn't chiming in here, is the vBulletin forum post that explains PMs are truly private. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146965 If admin knows how to read the DB it sure would be allot of work to find one PM in a DB that is huge. I have tried it before, but it's not so easy. The method I explained would work best. Again nothing will work if the PM was deleted. A better solution would be to find out from the person who was offended who the culprit is. Maybe the Admin can try to find out. I wish there were a better solution to protect this community. I love it here! Admin: If you need any help let me know! |
A private message is exactly that. Private. If I am sending a message to someone here I do it under the assumption that I am not being spied on. Why are our PM's monitored??? I do not attack people in PM's, but I do communicate on a personal level with some members, making plans or just talking about non-YT related stuff. It's all very benign. Why would this need to be monitored? |
For the exact reason of people leaving because of offensive PM's I think it's up to ADMIN to monitor them. I myself got PM's telling me that in my thread "I MADE IT SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF PEOPLE HAD LEFT". I didn't make anything sound like something untrue. Even 1 person leaving, I THINK, is devasting because this forum thrives on members. For those who PM'ed me, I didn't realize that one or two people didn't matter and only when a ton of people leave YT, it will matter. |
i agree |
Nobella, empty your mailbox please. Its full |

When this all started yesterday I looked at her last two threads. She had started a thread about bows she bought. Then a few minutes later moved it to a different category. I just wonder if someone PM'ed her about moving that thread to what they considered to be the proper place and she got offended by it. If it was so nasty then why in the world wouldn't she let administration know or at least us, who kept asking. Is it possible that it was administration that offended her?. Just throwing that idea out there. I'm not trying to offend anyone but without all the facts we really have no idea and if she's unwilling to say anything maybe we should just let this go. |
I hope PMS arent monitored. We all have the option of forwarding a bad PM. |
