Prescription Medication I have been wondering for awhile now why prescription medications are allowed to be sold on YT (heartworm in particular). I know you can get some brands from others countries over the counter and off brands in the US but the name brands in the US are only sold with prescriptions (as far as I know). My container of Heartgard says, "Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian" as do most, if not all other prescription drugs... So is it okay to sell prescriptions here? Just wondering.:) |
Who is selling it? yes you do need a prescription for LEGITIMATE Heartworm medication. |
YorkieTalk does not sell any prescription medication, nor have we seen any members sell such goods. A quick search on Google shows that there are many stores (from the USA and abroad) that sell heartworm medication, we suggest all members check with their vets first before using or purchasing any medication for their Yorkies. We would hope that all stores in the USA follow US laws and guidelines regarding pet medication if there are such laws. |

If you go to "Advanced Search" and type in one of the brands and then click the "Products for Sale" category, it might come up for you...:) |
I've never seen any precscription heartworm preventative sold here - and I wouldn't ever BUY it from a stranger. |
well - I posted then searched and you're right - that must have been overlooked and if I had seen it I probably would have contacted her as she's a longtime member She probably didn't know we can't do that...that was a good deal too |
that's my next purchase for the girls - I just got them a supply of frontline plus since moving into this apartment - I didn't know it's good for THREE Months per application - that takes a little of the bite out of the cost....So far it's working well and no side effects - they've never in 6 years needed flea medication :( Now I need to find a closeby GOOD vet and stock up on heartgard...we only have one dose left and the bugs are coming ! |
