Are the "Yorkies for sale/wanted" forums still moderated? When I was looking for another dog I remember that a moderator had to approve my post before it appeared on the "Yorkies For Sale or Wanted" forum. Is it no longer this way? There seem to be quite a few people selling or looking to buy "teacups." I would think that these would be edit and/or deleted. Just curious. :) |
Not sure how some of those made it through, actually. I just edited some language out - and we'll see if admin wants them gone altogether. Thanks, Kyle :) |
The Yorkies for Sale forums are moderated. We believe that this is a teaching opportunity as we can teach new members who may be seeking "teacups". We do PM all new members and write a short blurb on the fact there is no such things as "teacup Yorkies". We feel if a member are searching for teacups, then this is an opportunity for them to learn there is no such thing, rather than just deleting their post. We will not approve For Sale posts where breeders are advertising "teacups" as breeders should definitely know better. |
I get so upset when someone asks me what my girls are.. I was out on a walk around the block a few days ago and a lady came out and asked me if they were toy sized.. I just looked at her and said "no 'mam, they're just regular YORKIES" and then went into explaining their sizes as puppies and right now (and Evie's estimated adult size)... I get angry... but yet.. I feel so bad for these people who aren't educated enough... If you know WHAT a yorkie is.. then you should know their average size is anywhere from 4 to 7 pounds (give or take our tinies and teapots;)) Thank You admin and mods for educating people on the sizes of OUR babies and not just banning their posts.. obviously they never knew or they would never be asking for teacups. ALL IMO:rolleyes::) |
Also, on there a woman is selling a mix breed (Yorkiepoo) for $1200!!! |

I am uncomfortable with people coming on here just to sell their dogs. I think you should be an established and donating member in order to sell a dog. I think we are attracting members for the wrong reason. |
although I think that SHOULD be the case.. establishing a DM isn't anything hard either... to sell our babies.. they need something more |

that made me laugh and hit my head at the same time.. ahhh yess.. how cute our white yorkies are... DUH!!! |

Yes, I've always thought it odd that you have to be a donating member to sell items but not to sell puppies. Seems like it would be most beneficial to YT and its members to require a member to be a donating member before selling puppies. I really think someone should be a donating member before posting any for sale thread. It would also be nice if someone had to have say at least 100 posts or so before selling a puppy here as well. Hate to see people sign up only to sell puppies |

Totally agree; a certain number of posts over a certain period of time. |

Also, I do thin that sellers of our future babies should have a minimum number of posts so that we all get to know them:thumbup: |
I think you are thinking of Jeff, yorkiepup.com - can I post that???????? |

Thank you for your feedback. We periodically review the For Sale forum rules. The YT Featured Breeders are not in any way recommended by YorkieTalk, it was created because there were professional breeders that wanted to differentiate themselves from the Yorkies for Sale forum, which was getting crowded. The only fee is for listing Yorkies in the Featured forum and YT makes no commissions nor do we collect any money when Yorkies are sold. No YorkieTalk admin sells or breeds Yorkies nor any other live animals. We believe a breeder may price their Yorkies at any price they wish, and buyers may choose to buy or not buy at that set price. We are not saying any Yorkie is worth more than any other Yorkie, but there is a discrepancy in Yorkie puppy prices from one state to another, as we have seen standard Yorkie puppies as little as $300 or as high as $5000. Not everyone has the same budget when it comes to looking for a Yorkie. All potential buyers should do their homework and ask questions before purchasing any pet. We believe the Yorkie For Sale forums are necessary and helpful, as many Yorkies have found wonderful homes through our For Sale forums. The reason we allow anyone to post Yorkies for Sale if they fill out the form is because we believe members that are searching for Yorkies can learn more here at YorkieTalk than if they just found a classified listing. When a person just sees a classified listing, they can not ask questions of the breeder and can't learn the differences between a good and bad breeder. The higher standard required of Featured Breeders are that they are required to offer a one-year health guarantee, contracts must be openly viewable, and they must have experience breeding Yorkies. This is what the YorkieTalk team decided on after consulting with YorkieTalk members on what should be required for a Featured YorkieTalk Breeder. It is simply impossible for us to verify breeding stock, dam/sires of the Yorkie puppies, or other additional information from breeders. We can only ask basic information, and that should provide members as a starting point when looking for a Yorkie. |
