I hope she will get some relief today and will start feeling better soon. |
Chip has bad vaccine reaction and has had 4 severe cases of diaherria, one of which led him to go to the hospital. I would say take her to the vet now because it could get a lot worse. Puppies are like children, they don't know when to stop playing, even when they feel their worst. Chip's case went from a little tummy ache to severe constant blood squirting diaherria in literally 3 hours. He had to have IV's, 3 antibiotic shots, chicken and rice, plus oral meds for about a week. He's sick right now too, but getting better with our own home care. This is what we are doing right now: we withheld food and water for 24 hours to clear his system, administering 1/2 tsp of peptobismal at morning and night, and giving him boiled chicken and rice. If she doesn't like that, I also heard plain yogurt mixed with cottage cheese is okay. I also recommend changing her dog food when she starts feeling better. I agree with the majority of the people about Mighty Dog... it really isn't a good food. Some good fairly inexpensive food is Natural Choice and Nature's Recipe. I'm trying to get Chip on Nature's Recipe because they have an easy to digest formula and that's good with his sensitive tummy. I pay $4.99 at Petsmart for a 5 lb bag. Natural Choice is a little more expensive, but it has an organic formula that is good. I won't feed Chip anything that has byproducts in it or nothing that can't specify what animal a product came from such as "animal fat" in the ingredient. If the ingredients aren't specific, I'm not feeding it to him. Please don't think that I'm being rude, because that isn't my intentions. I've just "been there, done that" with Chip many times and I want to help. |
i think the question was about food n health not ownership Quote:

Oh okay thank you for the new posts. I hope the vet can just fix her all up when we go today! I was wondering about the vaccines too. She got a shot about 2 weeks ago so I wasn't sure if the diarrhea could be from that because it was so long ago. Well we'll find out today thank you so much! :) |

I agree with lil-rocky, this post is about Cali's pup being sick and needing help over the weekend while the vet was closed. I have seen many people with this same question on the site and people are usually very caring and helpful. My suggestion is to take the baby to the vet on monday and get her tested for any bacterial infections. No worries. update on his condition! |
Any word yet?? Im curious how her vet appointment went today..:) Dawn |

Lots of us have seen (and experienced) puppies go down FAST w/ diarrhea - meaning, they can die if left untreated. And that's where it gets really scary in some posts. Try not to take offense, people here are really willing to help - but they will "smack ya up-side the head" too if they think your little baby might be in trouble. Isn't this the same dog that you previously returned to the breeder? Was she assumed to be feeling better when you took her back again? I hope you find out what's wrong at the vet office. And, I will say this again: get her OFF that food - it's like feeding a human McDonalds (or worse) every day - just junk. Feeding good food, btw, can save a TON in health problems/vet bills!;) |
Any news on this puppy? I hope she was able to get her some help. I know how tough dealing with diarhea can be. Bella and Colby were both diagnosed yesterday with Giardia. They are on meds and a special diet of chicken and rice for the next five days. They are already so very much better. They never acted as if they felt bad. They just had diarhea about every other day. I'm thankful to know what it is and to know it can be corrected. I hope these guys are as lucky as we were. Please post back so we know how you are doing. Dealing with this is tough. We are here for support if you need us. |
