My yorkies love cooked carrots... when dogs were created ... was dogfood already created ? I think it is great to feed them veggies . |
TJ just started eatting acarrots and he really likes them too! |
tomatoes are NOT good for them...nor are grapes, raisins and some other foods...you can do a search on foods toxic to dogs. |
carrots my guys get carrots, cut up small, green and red peppers, brocoli a bit.. veggies like that are far better treats then most..a friend of mine has three yorkies, never gone to the vet except for there shots, they do not buy treat, only the veggies..hope this helps.. pooh's mum... |
Jasper is 7 months and loves carrot sticks, not the baby ones,i am afraid he will choke on those! |
is small raw carrots ok to feed? Thankyou everyone for the reply, and i am so happy other people give their yorkie babies carrots too. I give murphy the petite carrots to chew, but do not cut them up. When I cut them up he doesnt eat them. Will giving them whole be bad for him? He loves to hold it with his paws, lays on my sofa and chews away. I sit and watch him as he eats. Thanks again for all the info. Katharine |
Both Winston and Maggie loves baby carrots. I give them a whole one and they both crunch away. My Vet totally supports us giving carrots, green beans, apples, etc. instead of snacks. |
And a word of advice on the apple, a couple little pieces, but no more than that(I found out the hard way) it will give them diarrhea:( |
thanks for letting me know! i didn't know it would cause diarrhea.. i found another thing the hard way.. don't give too much cottage cheese. i gave cody some which i didnt think was that much. and he had a pile of diarrhea last night |
My Tyra absolutely LOVES carrots! I feed them to her regularly. |
a teaspoon of cottage cheese is plenty..you want to watch the broccoli too, too much of that can hurt them too |
Mine snack on carrots all the time. They can tell when I'm chpping them in the kitchen. |
Carrots have the added bonus of adding bulk to the dogs poo so that it helps keep the anal glands clear. I've given my babies a baby carrot every morning and we've never had to have their anal glands emptied by the vet. |
I give Mojo and Lily baby carrots (that I chop up small) or steamed carrots...they love them!! I also give them green beans (another of their favorites)....apples and watermelon are up there high on their list of favorites too! Cheerios are okay....they will occassionally eat them...not often though. Shredded cheddar cheese....they love it! |
The vet advised me to give Milo carrots - not the baby ones, the big ones - without slicing. He said gnawing on carrots is really good for them, specially when they're teething. It helps with the pain, or something. |
