Hmmm... shakes & bobbing head Ok... so I am just curious if anyone might know if there is something I need to have checked or if there is nothing to worry about. For about a week or so Sophie has been shaking real bad like she is FREEZING cold. She also has been bobbing her head, not front to back but kind of at an angle.... ???? anyways... just wondering if anyone had this or any suggestions. When I took her to the vet the other day about her falling I mentioned this but it didnt really seem to spark his interest as a problem.. but it seems very strange to us |
Since it has been going on for a week it is probably not hypoglycemia. She needs to be seen by a vet that will listen to you. If it was Ellie, I would call now. That is not normal. I hope everything is okay. |
Has she been tested for Liver shunt? |

Could it be an ear infection? What happens if/when you give nutrical, do the symptoms resolve? |
how old was she when you got her bile acid tested? |
I would not wait that long. I'd take her in ASAP. The shaking shows she is in pain and the head shaking means neurological, which could mean a pinched nerve or injury to the neck or back. |
Not to scare you, but what about GME? |
or white shaker dog syndrome? it doesn't just happen to white dogs... |
My guess is if she's shaking like that, she's in pain. You mentioned she fell a while ago? It's a possibility she hurt her back or neck in the fall and that's why she's shaking. When Sophie walks or stands, is it the same as before this started? My daughter's yorkie has a ruptured disc in his back and he trembled and shook until we got the meds right. I hope your little sweetie will be okay! I'll say a prayer! Hope you can get her to a vet soon and try to keep her quiet until then! *HUG* |
Ok... I will try to answer everyones questions.... Wylie's Mom=when I give her nutrical she perks up... but it doesnt seem to affect the shaking. Does that make sense? Yorkieluv=Sophie was approx 2 1/2 months when she had her test done. She was born 1/12 and the test was done 3/29. What are your thoughts?? Yorkiedaze= I thought the same thing about possible back. When I took her the other day she was walking funny... limping on one of her back legs. They addressed the limp by manuevering and manipulating the ligaments. She didnt react in pain but with the limp he decided to go ahead and give her a pain shot. She acts a TON better than she was. She had been just laying around doing nothing. Now she will get down walk around. Still not really playing chase and such with Rusty though. THen again... we have a visitor in the house that she DOES NOT like, my moms yorkie who is VERY VERY hyper. dcapper= Call me stupid... what is GME? Connie= Pain is my thought also.... Nothing is the same, well... not really. She has livened up a little in the last couple of days but still not her playful, chasing her brother self. I keep thinking back as well.... Thanks for saying a prayer for Sophie.... I am going to figure this out very soon. |
GME is a neurological disease. It stands for Granulomatous Meningoencephalitis. Its an awful disease. There is posts on yt about it. |
I hope everything turns out okay w/Sophie! |
They recommend doing the bile acid test at around 6 months. |
