U/D is also high in fat which puts more strain on the liver as well. I'm glad you really like your vet. It's so important to have a great vet that listens to your concerns. |

If she has hepatic microvascular dysplasia(tiny shunts throughout the liver), then there is no surgery to fix it and she will need to be maintained on a certain kind of diet, supplements, and lactulose. There are different severities of MVD/HMD, but my opinion is to keep them on supplements and on a diet with the "right" kind of protein to get the best outcome and to prevent the liver from being damaged. |
ok thanks. But the more I read about the symptoms the more I think she doesn't have it and my vet thinks she has all the symptoms. She never had any of the behaviours described before and no signs of what is supposed to have happened. Also I read that it takes time for them to recovered from anasthesia when it was the opposite for her... It's scary... |
I'd ask the vet about it. He'd be your best source of information. |
I hope and pray:hands: that your little Bikini makes a full recovery:love: Please let visitors know that she isn't to be fed a thing. If there's a huge meal going on, she'd probably be better off in an xpen so that she can't scrounge for dropped food;) I have to lock my two in the bedroom when we have company, at least while we're eating. Pancreatitis is very serious and can be fatal:eek: I love her name, by the way:) |

I do pray that your baby is okay. If your vet feels that she's exhibiting certain signs, then make sure you follow his lead on what testing needs to be done. |
I know her name just popped in my head and my family really liked it... its different! Thank you YorkieLuv for your help. I understand what you say. From now on I will go day by day and follow each step with my vet... I think this is the best way to head for the future. She has eaten lots tonight... I mixed her chicken with the low protein formula... she had at least a good tablespoon and water :) That made me so happy. She has her stiches that bugs her but this is normal. Now the only thing I worry about is that she hasn't pooped since Monday at the vet... but she didn't eat before yesterday... So I will phone my vet tomorrow if she hasn<t done it... Thank you everyone for your help and support... it really helps ;) |
