My friend's dog..please advice! Okay my friend just got her puppy at 12 weeks old yesterday. About 12 hours after reaching home, she started to throw up. Before that she was healthy and active and ate a lot of kibbles. Can she contract something from the short amount of time she is in my friend's house? This morning, she isn't eating and is still sleeping. Is the puppy sick? I am not able to provide more information as I have not seen the puppy yet hence I am just relaying the message here from chatting with my friend. Please help! |

Was the puppy shipped? Could she be throwing up out of anxiety? I'd give lots of water and nutrical, and call the vet for advice. I would also give a call to the breeder and let them know what's going on. |

Does your friend have a vet that she can call? How about an emergency vet? I certainly would check this out. Maybe the poor thing just ate too much and too fast. You didn't say if this is a little Yorkie of a bigger dog. What kind of dog, and how big is it? There are many more people on here who may know more, but if this is a little dog (Yorkie), I would check it out with a vet. |

Its a mini poodle. Sorry that I posted it here since its not a yorkie..its an emergency and my friend is freaking out. I am not sure of the weight, she is not even sure of the weight she said 2-3kg. She checked with the breeder and the breeder said she was 100% healthy before being transported. The breeder actually drove her to my friend, a total of 7 hours drive because she wanted a good home for her and have chosen my friend. She was totally fine yesterday, played and ate and poop alot but today she doesn't want to eat and last night threw up twice but otherwise just slept the whole night through :( The breeder said the puppy might missed her that much and not eat. She actually wanted to keep her at first but because she had too many dogs of her own (4) and a full time job, she can't afford to keep another and she kept the runt of the litter due to the runt being more weak and needed extra care. My friend says she will take the pup to the vet to check for parvo and distemper..I really hope puppy is okay:( |

Warm wishes for your friend's puppy!! I hope she is better quickly. |

maybe she just misses her "normal" environment and is adjusting to the changes??? |

1 Attachment(s) Update from my friend after she brought puppy to the vet. Puppy has a slight fever, should be okay in 2 days. Vet says it is due to the stress of a change in environment. Puppy is grounded, no going out, no playing allowed, just plenty of sleep and rest. The vet also ask her to keep in check for any symptoms of parvo and distemper, so far so good. Vet also ask my friend to wait for another 12 hours before feeding her food and gave her some vitamin. I know YT prayers always works! Please keep the little one in your prayer. Her name is Bear Bear and here is a picture of her :) |

Yes probably just the stress of adjusting. I just got a new puppy but have another dog for him to play with & he sleeps with us so stress of missing his old home was minimal. She should spend a lot of time with it, keep a eye on stool because stress can bring on sickness"coccidiosis". :animal-pa prayers |

I am so glad that Bear Bear is going to be okay. It is amazing how stress can do so much harm to these little guys. You were a good friend to your friend.:) |
