Unsure what's the problem with Kiwi A little background.... the "kids" and I went out to potty today this morning, and we were doing fine until I noticed Kiwi (my new approx. 7 y/o rescue) like falling over. I don't know what a seizure looks like as I've never witnessed one, but it was like she just couldn't stand up and eventually just leaned on me to stay still. So I thought it was a seizure or something seizure-related, but now I'm beginning to think it might be something wrong with one of her back legs. Any ideas, y'all? Or any way to know if it's her leg or a seizure or something else? Thanks in advance. I really do appreciate it :) |
Please call a vet. I don't know what a seizure is like in a dog either, but my first dog, Murphy - a shih-tzu/pom mix was put down at 16 1/2 after suffering 24 hours with a neurological virus, it was awful but it can go away. I'm not sure what's wrong with Kiwi but please seek treatment and keep us all posted. Prayers for you and Kiwi! |
That is SOOOOOO weird. Sophie started doing the same thing yesterday, last night. She would just be still all of the sudden then kinda fall over, Walk wobbley, just seem VERY unstable. I kind of at first thought her blood sugar but now I too am thinking somethin with her back leg because she likes to be supported. HHHHMMMMM  Sophie has an appt at the vet at noon today, I called last night when she started acting so strange. Good luck with Kiwi |

It sounds like it could be hind leg ataxia. Which could be could be due to a problem with the spinal cord or neurological disease or maybe a simple ear infection. I would get her into a vet ASAP and have it checked. Good luck, I hope its nothing serious. |
no advice but hope Kiwi's ok. Please keep us posted. :( |
I can't help with this, but hope she's better soon, and this was just some fluke. |
ahh poor Kiwi! Good luck:( |
Well... I took Sophie yesterday. I don't know that I am convinced about what they did/said. He ran fecal, negative. Her heart/lungs sounded good. He watched her walk and saw a significant limp and her walking strange. So he felt around on her leg pretty good and said things felt good but since there is an obvious limp he gave her a pain shot and told me to let them know if she wasnt doing better. Watching her last night.... I am only giving her through the weekednd maybe before I take her back and have them x-ray, mri whatever to see what is up. It does seem to be worse in the evening ... not sure what that is all about. Anyways... how is Kiwi coming along?? |
