Need advice, think Tiny is sick! Hi everyone, Tiny didn't poo all yesterday and so was a little sluggish last night, we gave him a little olive oil in his food to try and loosen him up but he was still quiet. This morning he was really lethargic and shaking. Wouldn't get out of bed when I got ready for work which has never happened before. He has now had a poo but he is still shaking, not so lethargic but not his usual self either. Do you think it warrants a trip to the vet to get him checked out?? Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks |
I would definetly take him in just to be on the safe side..how old is he?? Dawn |
Take him to the vet... did he ate table food? It could be an indigestion? Could he have ate something on the floor? |
Shaking is not a good sign. Have you given him something to raise his sugar? IF he is still shaking after that he needs to go to the vet. |
He is one year old and the only thing he has had to eat is chicken broth last night, to help with the constipation and then this morning he hasn't eaten anything. He seems to be very sleepy, I'm really worried going to take him to the vet now as I can't raise him |
I'd take him to the vet. I'd be afraid to leave him alone. |
Glad you are taking him to the vet now. Keep us posted. Hoping he will be fine |
Do you have any Nutrical? Even Karo will work to raise his sugar in a pinch. Good luck at the vet. |
I agree. He needs to be seen by your vet. Keep us posted. |
Any word on Tiny ? |
Hi everyone, Just got back from the vet, he thinks it's a virus as he can't feel any masses in Tiny's stomach. Plus he has a temperature of 40 which is a little high. He has given him a shot of antibiotics and something to lower the temperature. We have an appointment again tomorrow so the vet can see how he is doing. Thanks for all the help, I will keep you posted x x :animal36 |
Hope everything goes well today with your furbaby. We will be thinking of you |
I hope Tiny is ok... I understand what you go through. My little Bikini has been at the Vet since Friday, she was operated on Saturday and it is a miracle she is alive. I was suppose to bring her home tonight but she is not well enough. It broke my heart to see her today... she has no energy! I hope she will be find tomorrow! So take a good care of Tiny... it is not fun to see them sick! |
Update on Tiny After the vet gave Tiny the injections he perked up and was his normal self. However, after I had gone to work this morning my husband called me to say he had rushed Tiny to the vet as he had taken a turn for the worse. His temperature is normal so that means it is not the cause of the shaking, the vet does not know what is causing Tiny to become so sick so is taking x-rays to see if it is something he has eaten. Things aren't looking good though. Will keep you updated |
I have a few questions for you. Has Tiny ever reacted to a medication? Is he thin? Does he like to eat? How old is he? Did the vet draw blood? Has Tiny ever done anything like push his head against a solid object? |
No to the meds, he weighs 2kgs, loves to eat, a year old, yes the vet has drawn blood and no he has never pushed his head against a solid object. I am so worried!!! |
What is his ALT? I bet you are worried. I would be also. If your vet doesn't find anything soon, please have them run a bile acid test. |
Don't know what his ALT is, we have to go back to the vet at 7.30 to see what the results of the x-ray and bloods are. Will ask then. Will also take your advice about the bile test. |
Need help!!! The vet has sent Tiny home as he was a lot perkier again in the evening. However this morning it's the same thing again, lethargy and shaking. Both the vet and I are bemused as to what it could be. His x-rays and blood were clear. Please help I don't know what to do, he doesn't seem to be in pain and I don't think it is because of stress. |
Did he wake up shaking or did it start after eating? |
He woke up shaking |
Did you talk to your vet about doing bile acids? If they can't find anything this needs to be done to make sure. |
Mine had the same symptoms and she ended up with a pancreatic inflammation. She has been on fluid since Friday and she is slowly picking up the beat. She has not eaten yet... My vet opened her on saturday to see what was wrong and he notice the inflammed pancreas, the spleen duct blocked and the redness of the entire intestine. She almost died... because of a food she ate. Did you feed him table food? Do you feed him fatty foods? Anyway, the symtoms looks similar. You can send me personnal message if you would like to discuss it... I am right in this situation right now. Bikini is actually sleeping on me with her IV on right now! Good luck ;) |
Hi everyone, Still baffled! Tiny is still shaking and lethargic in the morning, he looks so miserable and his eyes are a little funny, can't explain it but they look a little buggy. I don't know if it is something physical or mental because yesterday I was at home and he was shaking, then when my husband came in he stopped and was running around. When my husband went to the shop he started again. Could it be stress related? He does shake when he is stressed but it's usually more violent than this, like shivering and he's never done it before. Will go back to the vet today and suggest a problem with his pancreatic inflammation. |
These are signs of a liver shunt. You can go on google and type Liver Shunt Symptoms. I'm going through this right now. I would go to the Vet and do a bile acid tests. Good Luck and keep us updated... it is not easy to see these little lovable puppy so sick! |
My vet told me to give Zoey a snack before bed to keep her sugar levels up overnight. |
